    xbox storage (360,one s) ..

    Question:

    Currently I have a xbox 360..

In near future I will have a xbox one s.. and later on will likely get xbox scorpio.

Will skip how I use a wd cloud drive in my current network..

What I eventually want to do is have any xbox I have be able to use whatever I have on a cloud drive.

Meaning both music/pics etc as all other devices can.. but also that a xbox 360 and a xbox one s can both run a game off that storage..

I am assuming that currently I would have to either:

    a. run same game on each xbox with save game potentially on cloud (mine or microsofts).

    b. run game itself off a directly attached storage to each xbox (no cloud).

Is there any chance of a XBOX NAS? that can be realistically ususable?.

I do figure on getting a one-S with 2tb and if needed... get its own (maybe 4tb) external.

I figure doing same with scorpio.. I might decide to not do any expansion to the 360.. and just shelf It or give it to inlaws in future.

I have a xbox live account currently and if need be can expand that if needed.. would prefer it be me with two live accounts (I guess I could setup wife as a #2 live)...

I assume the scorpio may very well change the storage potential.. but time will tell.

    :)

If I clear Xbox 360 storage from my Xbox One S will it clear a profile that was originally made on my old 360 but is being used on the Xbox One S?

Can I use 250GB Slim HDD in new "sleek" model?

Yes, the 360 S (Slim) and 360 E (Sleek) use the same HDD's so it will be compatible with the new model 360.

The Xbox One does not feature any NAS capability. There are no plans about adding NAS, as far as I know, so don't necessarily expect it to happen.

All game save files on the Xbox One are automatically stored in the cloud while connected to Xbox Live (source). You can access them on any Xbox One so as
long as you log into your account on the other consoles. Game installations aren't saved to the cloud; you must install them to the console you play on with a disc or full download (if you own the digital license).

Currently, you can only load games off of external drives if:

    1) The drive is connected to the Xbox via USB 3.0

    2) The drive's storage is at least 256GB. (source)

For my own thoughts of this idea being "realistically usable", I wouldn't count on it. For game loading, you want the data transfer to be as fast as possible. USB 3.0 is able to deliver data at up to 5Gbps, the Xbox One's internal SATA2 transfers at up
to 3Gbps, and ethernet falls behind as the slowest through the console's 1Gbps ethernet port -- of course, all are limited by the storage device's actual read/write speed. Not only that, but if connected through ethernet, it would have to pass through your
network hardware, likely causing more delay time in between. Network drives would thus only be suitable for basic media, like movies, music, and pictures. Try installing a current-gen PC game on your network drive, and see how that goes.

My series x won’t load backwards compatible games like

    Hi Jaden,

This is one of the known issues on the Series X|S consoles

Known issue: Some users are experiencing issues launching Xbox 360 games, which instead return the user back to the Home screen on Xbox Series X|S consoles.

Workaround: Clear your Xbox 360 storage by going to Settings > System > Storage > Clear local Xbox 360 storage.

    Hope this helps! :)

    Xbox Series S

    Hi,

Yes you can use it. You can use any external storage that the Xbox One supported on the Series X and S. However, external storage can only be used to play Xbox One games and BC Xbox 360 and original Xbox games.

Series X and S titles need to be run either from the internal SSD or the optional expansion card.

Any tips on how to make the hard drive play games or is this a lost cause?

If you are trying to play Xbox Series X|S games from the Game Drive, then that is not possible. The only way to play those games is from the internal storage or the official Xbox Series X|S external storage cards. The Game Drive can be used to play Xbox One, Xbox 360 & Xbox original games via backward compatibility.
