  1. XBox stops controlling television and cable box

Recently I've been having a problem where the Xbox One stops controlling my television and cable box. It won't turn it off, turn it on, change channels (on cable box) or change volume. At least once, turning the One off and unplugging it for a while fixed
the problem. But I tried that just now and it didn't fix the problem (I may not have left it unplugged long enough).

The Xbox recognizes my tv brand in the settings page.

I went through the troubleshooting instructions here. I don't see the IR light on the Kinect when I tell it to send commands.

    :)

    Xbox one X IR output

anyone else having issues using an IR output cable to control their cable box or receiver? During the set up phase the Xbox one X has no problems controlling the audio, but stops working after I complete the setup.

  3. Motorola DCT6416 III HD cable box (Time Warner Cable in Los Angeles) not connecting

    Hi,

Is anyone else having an issue with this particular box? I am trying to connect a Motorola DCT6416 III cable box via the HDMI, and the XB1 isn't receiving a signal at all. I have confirmed that the cable box and the HDMI cable are both fine: They work
fine when I plug it directly into the television. The XB1 connects to the television fine, and I can tell by the display on the front of the cable box that the XB1 is controlling it. There is no signal, however. I am suspecting that the HDMI input on my
XB1 may be bad, and that would be a bummer. Please advise!

XBox stops controlling television and cable box

Try heading to Settings>Disc & Blu Ray and click Clear Persistent Storage 3 times. Then hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down and unplug everything from it and let it sit for 5 minutes.

    Hopefully that will help.

  5. No dice.

I wasn't sure if you were joking or not.

I was able to fix it last time by unplugging and then reseting the TV setup screen, but that didn't work this time.

Maybe if I unplug the Kinect and plug it back in. Maybe a connection on it is loose or something.

  6. Oh, it is a Sony TV and the One detects it automagically.

Can I blame N. Korea for hacking my TV and changing the codes?

Actually my remote still works so that isn't the problem.

I'd still like to blame N. Korea if I can, though.

You can blame whoever you like. Blaming others always makes people feel better, lol.

As for the voice commands, I'm not sure why they aren't working. Can you head over to Settings and ensure that the option to use voice commands to control your TV are selected?

  8. XBox stops controlling television and cable box

When I say "Xbox, Volume Up", the Xbox pops up the window saying it heard me correctly, but the TV doesn't change. Voice commands that the xbox acknowledges but don't work:

    - changing volume

    - toggle mute

    - changing channels

    - power on tv at startup

    - power off tv at shutdown

    And many more!

I'm starting to think that maybe my Kinect is broken.

Are you able to run the Kinect Set Up again from the Settings menu?

  10. I ran the Kinect setup and it didn't help. But I found something else weird.

When I do "TV Setup" it says it has detected my TV. When I press Next it kind of locks up for maybe 10-20 seconds before returning to the main TV settings page. It selects code T0810.

Then if I go back to "Device control" and select "Device power options", everything is set to "Nothing". The option lists only display "Nothing". I don't have the option to send power on or power off signals to my tv. Again, the Xbox won't accept input for
a few seconds after I open the options list.

I'm trying to look up the code for my tv right now to see if it matches the one the Xbox selects.

My tv model btw, is a Sony KDL-55w802a.

Odd behavior. If you can't find a code for the TV perhaps you could try contacting support for the manufacturer to see if they know of a code that would work.

  13. XBox stops controlling television and cable box

I talked to support online and after an hour or so of troubleshooting, including resetting my One to factory settings and making me reinstall everything (arg!), they said my Kinect was broken and shipped me a new one.

The new one arrived today and it doesn't work either.

Because the power on settings are limited, I am highly suspicious that it is detecting the tv and cable box badly and selecting bad codes. The code it is selecting for my Sony tv is "". The code it is selecting for the cable box is "". I think these are
basically empty feature sets that don't send any IR signal for any commands and that is why I don't see the IR signal. I can't find codes for the Kinect anywhere.

I guess I'll contact support again and they will probably have me send in my entire console when there is likely nothing wrong with it.

  14. Forgot to enter: T0810 for the tv. C1376 for the cable box.

  15. Bintokin,,

If you go to Settings - Power & startup - TV & A/V power options, do you see multiple options for powering on a and off your tv? "Nothing" is the only option in all of my settings.
