XBOX Stereo headset microphone not working! Third microphone since system launch...

Since the start of the new year the microphone for has stopped working on my stereo headphones. I tried everything that was recommended and was told by customer support I need to purchase a new microphone. I purchased the stereo headset as the one that
came with the system did the same thing so I thought maybe the upgraded mic would last a little longer. Since accessories only have a 90 day warranty I'm being told I need to but my THIRD microphone since the system launched.

What a JOKE! I know this is an issue many people have been having but they fail to address it as a real issue with the hardware/system.

Anyone else having the same issues?

Xbox One Mic Can Hear, but Can't Talk?

I am having the exact same issue except its with the XBOX stereo headset. I tried everything that was recommended and was told by customer support I need to purchase a new microphone. I purchased the stereo headset as the one that came with the system

Microsoft Xbox One Chat Headset Microphone Stops Working

Hello,

This summer we have had 3 Microsoft Xbox One chat headset microphones stop working and 1 Microsoft Xbox One Stereo headset microphone stop working.

I have tried multiple Xbox One controllers and separate Xbox One console to verify the microphone no longer works.

Is there some known issue of how these headsets need to be plugged in or unplugged from the controller that could be zapping the microphone? Do we have to have the controller turned on or off before inserting the plug into the controller?

This just seems ridiculous that we keep loosing the microphone capability of these headsets.

Have you made sure you updated your controller, chat adapter and headset through the accessory update on your Xbox One ?

The headsets are compatible with the Xbox. I have used Xbox microphones as well as third party microphones that all work on other devices. I should also note that I can hear everything on the headset, but i cannot be heard on my headsets.

This sort of works. But it only works if:

1. When I plug my Xbox headset into the microphone port on the back of my motherboard, which prompts a Realtek popup in the lower-right hand of the screen which prompts me to select what I plugged in: headphones, microphone, or line-in. I select "Microphone".

2. I specify the Host in Audacity as MME.

Then I can record audio into Audacity. However, I can't listen through my Xbox headset because it's plugged into the microphone port and assigned as a microphone, not as an output device like a headphone.

So I still need to know how to use this Xbox Stereo headset to record Audacity and listen to my audio simultaneously.

Okay, I just discovered an issue:

The Xbox Stereo Headset's microphone does NOT work when connected via a USB hub, even if it's the only device attached to the USB hub. The microphone is detected, but it does not detect any sound in the volume meter.

As soon as I plug my Xbox One controller directly into the Surface Pro 2, the microphone immediately detects sound.
