Xbox stereo headset mic suddenly stopped working mid conversation

I have the xbox one stereo headset and was in a party chat with two friends while playing Destiny the other day when suddenly my mic just stopped working. I can still hear all game and chat sounds just fine but get no sound from my end, my mic icon doesn't
move or light up at all. I have tried the following things to get it to work again to no avail:

• ensured the mic wasn't muted (the button does light up if i press it and volume/chat mixer buttons still work just fine).
  
• disconnected and reconnected the headset adapted from the controller
• tried a different headset (Astro A40 and a pair of earbuds with mic)
• reset the xbox by powering it off and unplugging for 10+ minutes
• plugging in the headset adapter to a different controller/xbox
• tried party chat with other people, tried fireteam chat
• ensured my controllers were updated

If I plug in my standard xbox chat headset it works just fine so I don't think it's the controller. I'm pretty sure it is the headset adapter but have no idea why it would just suddenly stop working. It worked in the party for over an hour before it just
stopped.

XBOne Stereo headset mic not working (all xbox mics unreliable)

This is so frustrating. My mom has bought me 3 headsets for my XBox to replace mics that stopped working before finally shelling out the big buck $60 for the XboxOne Stereo headset; hopefully to end the persistent problems with the mic breaking. Now
my mic on the XBoxOne Stereo headset just stopped working. None of the troubleshooting works to resolve the problem. I thought headsets with mics were simple technology, why can't Microsoft get right and durable enough to last. Or, is that the point...to
keep us pressuring our parents to buy these expensive headsets. Extremely Frustrated!!

 

Stereo headset randomly stopped working

My Stereo headset randomly stopped working last night. I was in a party with a few people, it was working fine, but at some point the mic just simply stopped working. I can still hear through the headset, but the mic won't pick anything up. Both of my controllers
are updated (I've tried both), console is up to date, I tried hard reset on the console, unplugging the power cord, waiting a few minutes and plugging it back in, deleting my account and redownloading it, deleting the alternate MAC address as I saw somebody
mention that as well.

I'm just confused as to why it'd be working then suddenly stop.

 

To clarify, I have the official xbox headset adapter.

 

Me too. Standart work well but stereo mic no work. I try two controllers but the same

 

So I bought a new adapter and the official xbox stereo headset still wouldn't work but the astro a40's did for a few days, then tonight same exact thing. Mid conversation the mic stopped working. Where's my support, xbox?

Stereo Headset Adapter isn’t working

If your Stereo Headset Adapter isn’t functioning well, check the following:

Have you updated your controller’s software to support the Stereo Headset Adapter?

Make sure your controller has fresh batteries. When the batteries get weak, some controller functions like audio and rumble get turned off to conserve the remaining power.

Make sure your headset adapter is firmly plugged into your controller and that your stereo headset’s 3.5-mm cable is securely plugged into the headset adapter. You will know it’s plugged in properly if you press the mute button and the LED lights up.
If the mute light comes on and you have updated your controller but your headset isn’t working, consult the manual or manufacturer.

Try your Stereo Headset Adapter on another controller if you can. If the adapter works on the second controller, try updating the first controller again. If that fails, the controller will need to be replaced. To order a replacement, go to the Xbox Online
Service Center.

Try holding the power button on your console for 10 seconds until it turns off, leave for 30 secs then turning it back on, that's how I solve this issue anyway. Hope this works
