    Xbox Stereo Headset Help

Sorry if this has been asked or resolved before. Went through tons of posts and didn't find an answer, so I'm hoping you all could help out.

I've had the Xbox stereo headset for a while now, but never bothered to try the microphone or chat until recently. Turns out it does not work. I can hear the game volume just fine, but I don't hear any chat that's taking place during any game. Other players
don't hear me even though games I'm playing indicate I'm talking when I'm actually talking. NAT type is set to "Open" as well. Tried the headset on two different controllers with the same results - I hear game volume but no chat.

Any ideas as to what's causing my problem and any possible solutions? Read somewhere that the cable modem and router could be an issue. Is this true and how would I determine if that's that problem?

Thanks for any help or advice you may have.

    :)

  2. What's a good yet not horribly expensive headset for the Xbox?

The default stereo headset is pretty good IMO.

    Stereo Headset | Xbox

Comfortable, cheap, decently built. It's stereo but it should work with windows sonic as well which helps with audio quality.

Are you using the headset adaptor or pluging it straight into the controller?

If the first your adaptor might be broken a common problem.

If the second your headset could be broken.

make sure your controller is updated with the headset plugged in, do a hard reset as well.

Also start a party a watch to see if your mics working by your profile image gets highlighted is it does then your sound settings need changing.

    Thanks for the reply.

I've plugged the headset into two different adapters and it behaves the same in both in that I don't hear any in-game chat and they can't hear me even though it shows I'm talking. I haven't tried in party chat, so I'll give that a try and see what happens.

if the problem is you can't hear them but they can hear you its likely the balance between game and chat sound is off, hold down the chat icon until it beeps i think that maxes the chat volume.

The chat adapators are so poor quality, i recommend the newer controllers with the 3.5mm jack built in.

However if they still can't hear you i would suggest something is broken.

So I tried party chat and it shows that it's picking up my voice whenever I talk. I've also been able to confirm that even though it shows me speaking, nobody online can hear anything I'm saying.

Guess I'll bring my controllers and headset over to a friend's place and see if I have the same problems there with his system and setup.

Thanks for the suggestions. Appreciate the help.
