XBOX Smoking on start

I had purchased my XBOX one in US in 2016 and didnt use it for 4 years. I opened it now in India and as soon as i plugged it in, smoke came out of the brick and then i quickly shut it off.

Can someone please help what this could be due to and what I should do now?

Thanks, hope the console is fine.. can afford the brick but not a new console again

Spoke with Microsoft support and since its 4 years old they cant ship out a new one.

Have to purchase one from the local retailer.

Hi there

Soon as we say xbox is smoking even the power brick soon as either start using it isn't suggested we use that console again. That would be a repair job I would suggest as said get one set for your region rather than using a out of region xbox.

The power brick is toast. America is on 110v and India is on 240v, I suggest you buy an Indian power brick to see if the console still works, if it doesn't then the console is also toast. You fried it with too much electricity.

have you tried to power it back up?

i suggest speaking to microsoft and getting a new one sent out, im not to sure if they will be able to send one for free as it wont be under warranty.

if not then you can find them cheap online.
