Xbox Smash-Up

So, the other day I was talking to a friend about how MS bought Minecraft and all of the franchises they now have under their belt as a result: Minecraft, Halo, Forza Motorsport, Gears of War, Perfect Dark, Viva Pinata, Kameo, Banjo-Kazooie, Fable, etc.
and it got me thinking - it might actually be possible for Microsoft to do a game similar to Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. or Playstation's All-Star Battle Royale.

Granted, this is probably nothing new that someone else hasn't already thought of or dreamed of before, but I think now that MS has a bevy of franchises to choose from it could potentially happen! Just imagine:

Halo = Master Chief, Arbiter, & Sgt. Johnson

Minecraft = Steve & Creeper

Forza Motorsport = Car & Driver

Gears of War = Marcus, Dom, Baird, Cole, & Carmine

Perfect Dark = Joanna Dark & Elvis (the alien, not the singer)

Viva Pinata = Horstachio, Fizzlybear, Pretztail, & Fergy

Kameo = Kameo

Banjo-Kazooie = Banjo, Gruntilda, & Humba Wumba

Fable = Hero & Villain

My mind is just swimming thinking up what kind of attacks some of these characters might have in a game like that!

...and that's not even counting other games that I might have missed that were also exclusive to the Xbox consoles!

Do you think this is something that could or should happen on the Xbox One console?

What other Xbox franchises/exclusives, their characters, and/or attacks do you think should be included in a game like this?

this is a smash up derby game really, i dont play the mp but i can see it, forza4 is more for the HC racer, at least they think so, i like smash up derby, maybe ill take my big GMC van in and smash some smashers

There was a Spartan (not 117) in the x360 version of Dead Or Alive 4. That would give you an idea of what MC might look like in such a game.

 

Fun discussion perhaps, but I think it's gonna be something we pass on. And... to be perfectly honest, the type of characters we have would only work in one of those Arena type games from Epic Games. That would be cool!

Big Daddy from Bioshock for sure

 

I don't think Big Daddy from Bioshock would work for 2 reasons: 1) Bioshock is a multiplatform title and 2) he was already a playable character in Playstation's All-Star Battle Royale. Still, thanks for the suggestion.

Another idea that I thought of was having some of the Kinect-based characters in the game, like one of the Kinect Sports Rivals characters for example - maybe that character could only be controlled using Kinect commands. Wouldn't that be an interesting
and odd idea?

Dead Rising 3, although it was made by Capcom, was also a console exclusive to the Xbox One, so maybe we can have Nick from that game be a playable character.

 

Doubtful Rare will make another Kinect game for a while as they lost a fair bit of money on their last game and as MS not really pushing the Kinect like they was then what's the point ?

 

I think we should just leave it to Nintendo.

No creativity at all,just a bunch of popular characters punching each other.....

I prefer fighting games with a core gameplay like Killer Instinct....And prefer to play my favourite characters in their own games and lore.

Let's leave this kind "punching nonsense" (for 5 years old kids) to other platforms.

Unreal, they probably could, but I doubt it would be a character that was already used in a game that was made by their chief competitor. So, other characters, maybe (but it would take pulling some strings), but definitely not Big Daddy.

Tzar, I agree and disagree with you. Like you, I prefer the more standard variety of fighting games that have combo mechanics, etc. However, I disagree with you that games like this that I have in mind, along with Smash Bros. on the Nintendo and All-Star
Battle Royale on the Playsation, are "punching nonsense" and are strictly for kids. I've seen college students playing those games and they've even been featured at various competitions too, so there are people that take them seriously. Sure, it may seem simpler,
but that's not necessarily the case - you still have to account for attacks from different directions (left, right, above, and below); the power, speed, and range of those attacks; the abilities and stats of both characters (are they fast, slow, heavy, etc.);
the spacing between the characters; and even the environment those characters are playing on as well. It's just done differently is all.
