Xbox Smartglass app

I think Microsoft would sell more xbox one if the Xbox Smartglass app be more like Chromecast that stream media... from your phone to the Xbox one for free.

I'd like it to remind me when i am not on wi fi and go to view my game clips, clicked it like a noob the other day and instantly got a text about my data limit :/

 

@LTA Soldier - That would definitely be a good feature to have. An "only stream game clips on Wi-Fi" option would solve that.

The YouTube app on the Xbox One does casting, which is pretty cool. It works the same way as the Chromecast. I agree with the OP though. It would be cool if you could display photos and videos on your TV via your phone through the Xbox One.

 

This is actually something I never thought of but is actually a really good idea. That option would then push the Xbox in to the Apple TV market which would give a more solid approach on this "all in one entertainment" thing that we've been told about.

The only issue I can see is that it may take a lot of work on the smartglass app and it would probably be a very large update to both the app and console but I think it would be worth it.

 

Yeah it defo needs something, just to remind me i do it a fair bit when i am roaming i like to browse or message my mates etc but then i always slack and forget i aint always connected to a wi fi connection.

The streaming wouldn't be to hard i don't think, i can already stream video and music from my phone to my xbox one and i use it to watch films i have downloaded, whack em on a memory card, into my phone then i use the icon in the top left and it plays it
all through my xb1 across the wi fi so i could see it being done and the images could be easily done if they added an image viewer app to the xbox like the music and video apps..

 

If you have an iphone this is already an option.

 

That would be a very cool enhancement for smartglass. If you are on android download an application called BubbleUpnp. (Not the server, just the free app). It allows you to play local media or media from a network media server straight to the Xbox One.
Just make sure you allow PlayTo in the system settings on the Xbox One then pick your renderer in BubbleUpnp. Works great.
