XBOX sign in using a controller – automatically signs out and exits game

I've been experiencing an issue where my Xbox will automatically sign me out of my account while I'm playing a game with the message "Signed in using a controller", ending in any game session. My system does not sign me in, it just signs me out. This happens
with significant frequency (a couple times an hour). It started within the last month and I've done nothing to my system or network in the last month that would explain the cause of this issue.

I read somewhere that this might be linked to having the automatic sign in and controller sign in options in the system settings. I therefore switched both off, but the problem has come back. It looks like it only happens in gameplay, and not when I'm at
the XBOX homescreen. Others have mentioned that this might be due to having my account signed in on another system, but aside from the XBOX app on two mobile devices, the only other system that has my account is an XBOX 360 that isn't used anymore.

Does anyone have any suggestions or has dealt with this issue and can provide some guidance?

I performed the factory reset, set up my console - making sure not to automatically configure with the same settings as before and just do it myself - and the came back a couple hours later and as soon as I started up a game it signed me out again.

Thanks for keeping us updated. I would like to start off by saying I don't think you are being signed into a different device. If you were, you would see a notification come up saying "Signed in elsewhere" as you were being signed out. You may want to consider
performing a soft factory reset for this issue. This
will reset the operating system and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps. You will have to re-sign in to your account, so make sure you know the email and password before
performing this step. This will also reset the home Xbox settings.

Please note that if you are part of the preview program, you should report this issue through the insider hub, as well as to
the insider reddit instead of doing the factory reset.

I only have/use one controller. My controller occasionally un-syncs itself when turning on the console every now-and-then. I will re-sync and see how that works.

I believe the link you provided is for a factory reset, which would erase everything from the console including the games.

I'll try this if nothing else works.
