Xbox shutting itself off and on randomly (beeping like crazy too)

I haven't played my Xbox One the past few weeks, it's been at home with the plugs switched off the whole time. Went to play it today, turned it on, got to the update screen and had an update of around 3.4gb to do, so I started as per usual.

Around 30 seconds into the update process my Xbox One started beeping as if someone was pressing the off button over and over again - like 5 times in a row, and it completely shut off

Made sure all the cables were in just in case and switched it back on. Started updating again, and it kept doing it over and over. Eventually I managed to get through the update and to the home/main screen. After logging in and I thought I was ok but it's still
not ok.

For the past 4 hours, I've been struggling to keep the xbox one turned on - it switches itself off at completely random times, like sometimes I don't get a game started, yet once or twice I've managed to get into a game of fifa before it does it. Every time
it does this, it beeps like someone has pressed the off/on switch multiple times as fast as possible - sometimes 3 times, sometimes 10 times.

I've tried hard resetting it but it's not helped sadly. I've also tried to contact support through the site since all afternoon (UK time) but the site hasn't been working for me at all for some reason, sadly.

This is the first issue I've had since purchase. It's a day one edition if that makes any difference at all.

xbox (starwars 360)

one day i came home and my xbox was beeping (like R2D2) and the tray was going open & close this happens randomly. when turned off it turns on by itself ,,alien perhaps?? please help

Firstly what type of xbox 360 do you have? You're right sometimes the button can get stuck on the original xbox 360 consoles. If you have the slim, when it beeps does it ever open the disc tray by itself? Does it ever shut off randomly? If you think its
a sensor related issue and you still have warranty I suggest going here
support.xbox.com/.../repair to request a repair. Untill then when you give us further information might be able to assist a bit more

 

We are sorry to hear About this Johnson but i do think the latest update has something to do with the turning off automatically. But the Beeping isn't normal i there anyway you can describe the beeping to me is it High Pitched has it been posted on Youtube
so i can hear it can you please provide more info,

I have had the exact same issue for about four months now (since December)

 

The beep is not high pitched. It is the sound that the system makes when you pass your finger over the power button

it sounds like a hardware fault, perhaps the system is overheating and shutting down to protect itself. This is not uncommon is electronics these days.

You should check your warranty, and perhaps arrange for a repair. Visit
www.microsoft.com/en-gb and sign in. Now follow this path:- Click on your gamer icon (top right) > click "view account" > click "device" > click "my devices" > Scroll down to xbox one > click "schedule repair" - PS your warranty info will also be listed.
If not, highlight the serial number, copy and click register device.
