Xbox shuts off when on.

Thanks. It just started after the last update for xbox. I can play ark and stuff but just certain games I cant.

Try factory reset with option keep my games and apps. Is there any noise? Put some compresed air into it to free fan from dust. Pick good, ventilated spot.

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on what to do with a console behaving thusly. I can totally understand how this could throw anyone for a loop. In this instance, I would definitely try a soft factory reset of the console.
It's a reset of your console back to factory settings but one that does not uninstall any of your games or apps and is a really good troubleshooting step for most issues.

How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One, select the option denoted reset and keep my games & apps and let us know how that helps with the issue.

The first thing I am thinking of, is that if it is turning off on specific games, it’s possible it is overheating trying to run the graphics for that game and as a precaution it’s turning itself off. I would definitely get the actual Xbox support tech
involved and check to see if this needs to be repair item

First which xbox do you have second COD has been known to have issues. Is this the only issue you have with xbox turning off is it only in COD? If so try doing a power cycle and check your updates etc.
