My Xbox series X console power button turns on when I press it but nothing responds. My controllers can’t connect and the “X” light on the console won’t flash if I press the pairing button, as well the Bluetooth connector I have plugged in won’t turn on. Again the only thing that seems to respond is the power button and the eject disc button. I’ve tried to reset it by pressing both buttons and other tips I’ve read but the the Xbox doesn’t even register that they’re being pressed almost as if the only part that’s getting power is the power button and disc tray.

Hi Evan! Sorry to hear about what happened. Let's see what we can do about this matter.

Make sure to power cycle your console first. Press and hold Xbox's power button for 10 sec until it turns off. Unplug the power supply for 30 sec. Plug it back in and turn it on again.

If it's not showing you anything from the TV, make sure to check or try different HDMI cable and check your TV source if set correctly.

Then check to see if you can bring up the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter:

    1. Power off your console, and then unplug the mains lead to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
    2. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the mains lead back in.
    3. Press and hold the Pair button and the Eject button on the console, and then press the Xbox button on the console.
    4. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.
    5. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.
    6. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Start-up Trouble-shooter.

There's an option to reset your Xbox there.

If it doesn't work, I am afraid that you would need to send your console for a repair. You may check your options here https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/...

    Xbox won't turn off properly.

    Thanks for responding Miss Diggz,

I tried those troubleshooting steps, and at first it seemed to work, but unfortunately the problem returned.

However, i discovered that when my xbox is refusing to shutdown, if i hold down the home button on the joypad for long enough, the pad turns off, and the xbox then immediately shuts down correctly.

It is quite strange (pad is fully updated by the way)

Xbox randomly shut down and will not turn on

    Hello Nate how are you?

My name is Ezequiel I'm an Independent Consultant.

The Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X and Xbox One S have an internal power supply that works worldwide. If your console won't turn on, it's possible it just needs a power reset. Many times, power problems occur due to the power reset right after a power surge.

To reset the internal power supply, follow these steps:

    Disconnect the console's power cord.
    Wait 10 seconds.
Plug the cable back into the console and press the Xbox\uE3E3 button on the front of the console.
If the console turns on, the internal power reset worked.

Follow this step if the issue happens again.

Make sure the outlet you use works with other devices.
Make sure the power cord is properly plugged into the wall outlet and into the console.
Make sure you are using the power cable that came with your console and that it is the correct cable for your region.
