Xbox showing 2 gamertags after recently paid to change it back ( after the new gamertag...

Still wont work for me, its asking to pay $10

Im dealing with the same issue and its infuriating. I had my gamertag for a long time, and when I heard the new gamertag feature was coming out, I thought it would be a good idea to have a new name as long as it could be anything I wanted “as the sales
pitch goes”. Yet to find out I hate 4 numbers next to the desired name indefinitely. So I then decided I wanted to go back to my original tag and guess what, it was 15 characters and 12 characters is the new maximum?! So me trying the last thing I had in mind,
I tried switching my name back on my 360 thinking it would over-ride the new lackluster system. And at last, I was successful! Only to be in shock of the fact that once I signed back into my xbox one, I have 2 gamertags! My desired and original tag is under
the new and unwanted one. In game I have the tag I want, yet on my friends’ friend lists, I am the undesired name. This is all confusing and ridiculous, so please xbox...patch this glitch so I can remain a happy 11 year xbox gold member with ultimate pass

The main issue is they took the money and the change did not happen. Any game that supports the new Gamertag system will, in fact, show the Gamertag I paid to change from.

The issue users are reporting do not want the "new" format. They paid to go back to the old format.

They took the money and change DID happen on the new Gamertag system.

The thing is, that a lot more people wanted a change with the Gamertag system, so Xbox listened and created the new Gamertag system to please the majority of people that wanted to have their desired Gamertag, even if someone already has that Gamertag.

But as it is with everything else: You can't please every single person. A company as big as Microsoft has to make decisions based on what the majority wants.

If only a few people had complained about the current Gamertag system, Xbox would have saved a lot of money and work and kept the old system. But so many people wanted a change, so they got the new system.

You are not understanding the issue.

This an edge case where users used the free "new" Gamertag change. But then was allowed to pay to change back to an old 15 char name. After the new update users are now seeing the original "new" Gamertag again sometimes months after paying for the old one
back.
