Xbox Share button not working after recent update

Update:

It seems to work for a little while after I turned it off (if i turn it off and press the "turn on" button in the xbox app 30 seconds later). But it does not work when the xbox hasn't been recently powered off.

Anyone have an idea?

Yes, we are trying to play the DVD version of the game. It worked just fine until the most recent update and now after, it just gives a red X on any button pressed except for the Home button in the middle.
