xbox set up? ea account? multiplayer online?

Hello. We have an xbox one s with Kinect. I am the adult , my sons are 9 and 5. When we first set the whole thing up I think I had it "online" or xbox live. We connected to a game and we could here someone else talking and the language was not appropriate.
So I disabled "the multiplayer"?? But now my boys are limited to the type of games they can play I really have no idea what I'm doing here. I'm pretty sure I have to go in and change the settings. We have a live Gold Membership. How can I turn on multiplayer
but restrict who we can hear???

I think I want my kids to be able to roam freely but just not be able to purchase anything without my consent...

Is it possible that I have two Microsoft accounts? I have my own and then when we set up the xbox I think I accidently created another one? Is it possible to change this?

Just to add,unless it's changed,you need to be 13 years or older to set up a EA account & play on their servers for multiplayer.

You need to sign into your Xbox account to change those settings.

Ok. This is I think is part of my problem. I have set up the xbox with an Microsoft account that I don't use and an email that I don't use? My kids profiles are under this Microsoft account. Then I have a Microsoft account that I do use and is this for
real?? that is how I purchased the xbox one s live gold membership?...

Hi Frankli,

Unfortunately, once an account is made they are there to stay unless you
deactivate them. The other is if it is not used within 5 years it will be deactivated. Have you bought or redeemed anything on the account you do not want to use? If not you can just remove it from the Xbox and use the one you intended to use.
