trouble connecting to xbox live and alerts

I cant connect to xbox live and when I test connection it says service: service alert xbox stores: service alert

It went bandy about 11:00 o'clock last night , so is it still not working since last night , or is it a new case of not working again?

 

Pfffft , regular thing just lately , come on MS , get a grip and get it sorted.

 

The black screen referred to in this service alert has been going on for 2 days now! I was told yesterday by MS Customer Support that it would be fixed "in an hour". WHAT IS GOING ON? For 2 days of my vacation I have been unable to access ANY video on my
XBOX360 (even though the service alert update says "Amazon Live and Netflix are up and running"). A continuing 2 day outage is outrageous for any technology provider, but Microsoft???? C'mon .... maybe it's time to call the media. What gives.

Last Sunday was a bit of a let down. The weekends are the busiest and worst time for XBL to be experiencing difficulties.

This is written by M on this site. It's not easy running Xbox servers for 360 and 1. But from my experience, this year has seen the most hiccups with XBL. They're pretty quick on getting on to it tho. And I'm sure they do their best to fix it quickly. At
the start of this week all services were green. And just because we're into the weekend, they start to go haywire. Maybe just bad luck. Thank goodness it isn't always like that.

 

All I can say is that it's good to see the outages taken seriously and dealt with promptly.

 

Perhaps with so many hiccups which started this year it's time to consider on a Dashboard update for 360 (and 1). The issue/bug which I mentioned in my previous post on this thread is there. They haven't updated it since the time stamp from my post which
means it must be a serious bug in the Xbox Live servers and Xbox 360 Dashboard. Some apps/games will open. Others you just get a black screen. You can bring up the Xbox Guide menu but if you give it a command, your console freezes. If you choose to stay on
the black screen, you'll be there for hours or until your console automatically turns off if you don't use the controller and are idle for more than 1 hour.

 

I figured a way around the black screen issue. Restart your 360 console. Then, when you're not signed in, insert the disc game you want to play. Xbox 360's Dashboard starts the game, wow, normal. As it's doing that, sign in to Xbox Live with your profile.
It should work for games which you have on disc. I'm now signed in. I still hope they fix this soon. I don't think you'll have the same luck for games which you brought digitally. Xbox Live Party works currently. So if you can't successfully launch apps/games
probably just hang out on the Dashboard with friends viewing your Xbox Live Party and watch some DVD's. Thank goodness viewing friends and messages isn't as "app-like" on Xbox 360 as Xbox 1. Since the black screen affects apps/games pretty much all of them,
it doesn't affect your ability to view your friends and so far Parties are working.

 

I don't think the problem is necessarily caused by xbox live itself. Thousands of companies use the azure servers for other Microsoft services such as Office 365 and Cloud and the recent problems could stem from that. After all, xbox live has been running
for over 11 years and most of the time it is stable. Microsoft have probably nailed any issues after so long. So it makes sense that the problems, which have only been recently, could be caused by other sources than Live itself.

 

Xbox 360 doesn't use Azure servers, it uses 15,000 Xbox Live servers. It's the Xbox 1 which uses Azure servers, 300,000 Xbox Live Azure servers.

This new issue affects only the Xbox 360. See my earlier post details. This issue IS Microsoft's issue. When you are not signed in, you can bypass the black screen by inserting a game disc of the game you want to play, the Xbox 360 Dashboard loads that fine,
while it's doing that, sign in. It worked for when I wanted to play COD BO2. But when I start my console and sign in then, launch an app or game, I get the black screen. It's not a defect of the Xbox 360 Dashboard. It's the *source" which Xbox 360 is connected
to, and the only service which Xbox 360 consoles are connected to, is one thing only, Xbox Live.
