Xbox Series X Zen 2 Questions

since xbox series x uses zen 2 architecture how is it running apps? since almost all apps are compiled into x64 architecture? Does it require all programmers to compile to zen 2 if it's for xbox series x? Or does zen 2 support x64 without emulation? it wouldn't make sense if they choose zen 2 and then it emulated all the apps that would dramatically slow down execution time. I get that they wanted an architecture which was better for gaming and power usage.

    :)

You're getting confused with Architecture and Microarchitecture.

It runs apps and games because Zen 2 is still X64 Architecture. Same as a Intel i3, i5 and i7's are all X64 Architecture.

The 'Zen 2' in the AMD64 processor that Series X|S uses relates to its microarchitecture. To put simply, microarchitecture details how deep the pipeline is, what are the different levels of caches, sizes of caches, how wide the execution unit is etc.

This microarchitecture is backwards compatible with with the previous AMD64 Jaguar APU that the original Xbox One uses. There is no slow down. Most Xbox One games run better on Series X than they did on original hardware.

windows apps and xbox apps same thing same code it's just distributes by different architecture compilations. there may be extra data if microsoft felt like it required but the compilation is the same

ok turns out you are right. wikipedia is just very confusing. Also on both microsoft and amd sites they specified the cpu architecture as zen2 not specifying that it was the microarchitecture or uarch and didn't give it. It's x86_64 (AMD64) which can run both x32 and x64 without emulation

Can you play Jedi survivor on Xbox one x/s?

Xbox one x is NOT XBOX SERIES consoles

Xbox series consoles are just series vonsoles

Xbox one games don't have s or c requirenent and you are talking about 12 years in technology difference even though the xbox one wss already dated when released but zen 2 of the series console is current as of 2 yesrs ago

The Zen 4 is coming out soon with ROG slly
