Xbox Series X won't share screenshots with OneDrive

As stated, screenshots taken on my Series X will no longer "share" to OneDrive. I haven't tried to do this is a long time, so have no idea when it may have started, but it used to work just fine. Repeatedly "shared" from Xbox, and there is absolutely nothing at all in OneDrive. I have already seen this post a number of times, and all the official responses have been the same ineffective suggestions, followed by a 72hr waiting period after which they "assume the problem has been resolved" because the OP didn't keep pestering them to keep it active.

To be clear, all of the settings to allow sharing are correct, I have plenty of available space, and none of the other "troubleshooting steps" have anything to do with this. It's a bug, glitch, error, call it whatever you like, it used to work, microsoft changed/updated something that broke it for at least some of us, and microsoft needs to admit that, find what they broke, and fix it. No amount of fiddling with settings that are already correct is going to fix that, and in the two other times I was desperate enough to fix something that I actually tried the last-ditch "restore factory settings," it did absolutely nothing to help and actually caused days more problems trying to get everything back.

So, will this actually get looked into? I'm willing to keep replying "still doesn't work" every day for a long time so the 72hrs doesn't kick in, if that helps. Also, the options we have to select from in order to direct this to "the right community experts," while I understand their use, almost always force me to make choices which are ultimately incorrect, or at least incomplete; for example, this will be pigeonholed into either gaming and xbox or OneDrive (or whatever OD falls under), when it's entirely possible that this is about both, or at least how they connect with each other. Isn't this entirely in MS's control? Aren't these both their systems, that should be designed to work together, since MS won't allow us to share directly from Xbox to anywhere else (or at least anywhere I use), and have to go through OneDrive, which somehow takes shots and clips that look great on my console and transforms them into low-res garbage by the time they get to my computer. And now, since this connection isn't working, I don't even have the ability to use crappy versions of Xbox screenshots, so the entire screenshot functionality is both useless and pointless.

    :)

Yes, that link is to the exact miserable page I'm talking about, the one that forces us through multiple layers of dropdown menus which require specific responses, none of which are accurate, and no matter what we choose, at the end there's still never any way to "file a ticket," only post to these forums (which always results in this exact back-and-forth we've been having, with you posting the scripted, cut-and-paste responses, and me saying I've already seen all this a thousand times), phone call during specific hours (any time I've tried this, I apparently didn't have a large enough block of hours to wait for a human to pick up/callback), or live chat, which is the most fruitless form of communication I've ever engaged in. I'm not saying MS is the only company that's made it difficult to report/resolve problems--pretty much all of them do, google is every bit as bad.

But, thanks for the effort. At this point, I'm mostly responding to these to make sure your next response isn't the "we haven't heard from you in 48 hours so we consider this issue resolved" that's usually dropped by now. Can't say I enjoy this dance, so my future responses will likely be limited to saying "no" to "did this resolve your problem?", and maybe adding a few words reflecting that. Unless, of course, anything more is required.

Well, thanks for the internal support thing, as I guess that's what I was shooting for here. The Report a Problem app is a pain (can't afford to be buying keyboard peripherals and don't have a "mobile device," so it's just virtual keyboard, which suuucks), but I used it, so maybe that'll help get some traction.

Most of the problem here is that you won't let us load captures straight to our computers (or to share/link directly to, say, reddit), and have to first go through OneDrive. I assume there's some sort of compatibility/translation reason for this, though I have no idea, but if such a reason doesn't exist then this really is the root of the problem. I think this wouldn't be so unpleasant if I could understand why this step is necessary, as, back when the sharing function did work, what OneDrive seemed to do was take screenshots and clips that look great on my Xbox and transform them into low-res versions with desynced audio, and by the time I'd try to attach them to, say, a bug report for No Man's Sky, they'd fail to upload--as a matter of fact I specifically remember that I was never once able to attach any image or clip to any report there; dunno where the problem lies there, but I always suspected some sort of degradation during the Xbox-OneDrive-laptop transfer process. I admittedly know very little about how all this works, but something's definitely always been off about it.

    Hello whynametaken,

Thank you for getting back with the thread and again my apologies for some delay.

We understand that you have already reported the problem using the report a problem app in your Xbox Console. With your other concern about your suggestion, on creating a prominent tab that has all the updates notification, you can check on this link: Share Ideas and Engage with Team Xbox Using the Xbox Idea Hub - Xbox Wire

We truly appreciate for your efforts to help us improve your experience.

    Sincerely,

First of all, I didn't ask how to set my console to power saver mode or to not auto-update. It's already set that way. If it weren't, these updates would be happening automatically as soon as they're available (at least in theory), but I don't want that happening. What I ask for is that, when system updates become available, we get an auto-generated notification (you know, the same Xbox notifications that have their own tab at the bottom of the quick menu, the ones you use to send us promotional material, achievements, etc.) telling us it's available. Then, we can initiate the update at our convenience at some point before the update becomes mandatory and game interruptions, etc., happen. It would also make sense to have a tab for all updates, which includes all available updates for games&apps and the system itself, instead of having to dive into multiple menus to find each separately.

Secondly, did you even read the original post? I already know how to share to OneDrive, the problem is that the sharing isn't working. You even mentioned that this was a known issue and was being referred to an internal support team, so I don't see the point of any of this copy/paste stuff. Regardless, I can say that something has changed since my original post: When I shared to OneDrive from Xbox, it used to give me the green checkmark and "shared" (or whatever the text is), and when I tried it again this morning it gave me an "oops" message instead. It's at least progress in that it's accurately telling me the sharing failed, when before it didn't.
