Xbox Series X Wireless Controller can't power on in any capactiy unless it's plugged in...

I've also noticed that even the usb is inconsistent and every cord I've used needs to be held at a certain angle to make the controller work. I've already updated the controller's firmware, tried multiple different fresh sets of batteries, and I've already run a power cycle on it twice. I'm posting in here to ask if there's anything else I can try before giving up and replacing the controller. I've only had it for a year and a half or so and I was hoping to get more life out of it.

    :)

Xbox Series X Wireless Controller can't power on in any capactiy unless it's plugged in with the usb

Hi there Alex_141, my name is Gerardo, and I'm an Xbox player, just like you. I'll be happy to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

I'm sorry to read you're experiencing this issue with your Xbox controller.

According to the problem description you provided, and since the issue persists after the troubleshooting steps you attempted, it seems to be a hardware issue with the controller. Therefore, it would be necessary to have your controller repaired or replaced since it has been more than a year since you purchased it, and its warranty has likely expired.

You need to know that Xbox does not provide repair services for regular controllers outside of the warranty. This service is only available for Elite Series 2 controllers, as you can confirm through the following link under the "Out-of-warranty service costs" dropdown:

    https://support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/warranty-service/getting-your-product-serviced

As you can see in that dropdown, only the repair cost for Elite Series 2 controllers is listed, not for regular wireless controllers.

Considering this, it will be necessary for you to take the controller to a trusted technician in your local area to have it examined and repaired if you do not want to replace it.

Please keep in mind that in this public forum, we are just fellow players like you, trying to help other players with our best intentions.

I appreciate your understanding and I wish you good luck!

    Kind regards,
    Gerardo.

Series X controllers will not connect unless plugged.

    Hello BenEmergy,

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

It appears that the Xbox controllers can't be connected wirelessly to your Xbox Console. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

We would like to ask few questions to help us isolate the issue further.

    1. With the three Xbox Controllers, are all these controllers are Xbox Wireless controllers or of different type?

    2. Are those controllers not connected wirelessly to Xbox console since the first time it was used to connect to your Xbox Console?

For the meantime, here are the ways to connect your Xbox Controllers wirelessly:

    • Connect the Xbox Controllers wirelessly using Xbox app accessories.
    • Connect the Xbox Controllers using the pair button.
For the complete steps, see the article through this link: Connect an Xbox Wireless Controller to your console | Xbox Support

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

    Sincerely,

My xbox controller is plugged in but wont connect to pc

    Hi

    What Xbox controller is it?

If it's an old Xbox 360 Wireless controller, note that these controllers are always wireless. You can't make them wired with a Play and Charge. The P&C only provides power. You need an Xbox 360 gaming wireless receiver. Note: it must be the 360 gaming receiver, the Xbox One dongles are not compatible.

If your controller is an Xbox One or Series X|S controller, try a different cable. Not all USB A to USB C cables are capable of sending data and power, many are just charging cables.
