Xbox Series X - Voice Chat over discord has White Noise / Digital Artifacts

Hello,

Recently I bought a Xbox Series X and a HyperX CloudX Flight Headset. After testing out Discord Chat over Xbox, I was disappointed when my friends told me my voice sounded like a robot, with white noise/digital artifacts.

At first I thought it might be the headset but after troubleshooting, I found that the headset works fine on Xbox Game Chat (over Xbox), Discord (over PC) and Xbox Game Chat (over PC). On all three of these set ups the microphone sounded fine for my friends with very clear audio and no white noise/digital artifacts.

Based on this, It is clear that the problem arises ONLY on Discord (over Xbox). It happens with or without games running. It also sees to fluctuate in how dramatic the extra sounds are (but never goes away).

I have also tried both with and without noise suppression, though neither seem to make a difference. I have tried all audio setts (Windows, Dolby, Etc.) and none seem to change the effect.

Based on this the problem seems to be rooted within the integration of Discord itself. This is disappointing as I was really exited to have the new Xbox console but coming from PC, Discord is a necessity. At this point, I will have to return the console and stick with PC Gaming.

Is there any light to this situation, or any other troubleshooting techniques that I could try. Thank You for your time.

Hello again,

There is not an option to uninstall discord from the Xbox Series X. Discord does not show up as an app, as it is integrated directly into the party chat functionality. Are you suggesting that I unlink the discord account?

Oh, I see. Just to make sure, have you tried to uninstall then reinstall Discord too?

Hello Dericka,

Unfortunately, the headset in question is a blu-tooth headset that utilizes a USB dongle for connection. I have tried using all three USB slots provided on the device with no difference in microphone quality. Based on the fact that the headset works just fine on Xbox party chat, I assume this issue has something to do with Discord over Xbox

Yes, that's correct. Please unlink it then restart the console and try to link it then check if there's any changes. Thanks!
