    Xbox Series X USB fault?

    Hello all,
I've just spent the last few hours tinkering with a USB drive issue on my xbox one x (which is about 2 months old).
I have a 1TB Samsung drive and a 2TB Toshiba drive. I used both without issue on my Xbox One X for a significant period of time.
I also have a Windows 10 PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox series S.
When I first got my XSX, the 1TB drive started to power on/off . The 2TB drive was showing no issues.
When plugging my 1TB into the USB port on the front of the XSX, it is detected correctly.
When plugging my 1TB drive into a XBox 360, it's detected correctly
When plugging my 1TB drive into a windows 10 pc, it detects the hardware (I've even formatted the drive and run HDDScan tests, created file of various sizes etc) - no obvious issues.
When plugging my 1TB drive into the usb port on the back of the XBOX closest to the network socket, it does nothing other than show it has power and spins up. the XSX does not show it in storage.
If I plug an older 256GB USB drive in to the same port - it detects it as a media device and it's accessible as you would expect.
If I plug my 2TB drive into the port... nothing happens. If I plug my 2TB drive into the port furthest from the network socket, it works fine.

If I plug my 1TB drive into the usb port furthest from the network socket - it's not detected (but it spins up)

If I plug any of the drives into the USB port at the front - they all work as expected (I don't want to do this though as it ruins the asthetics)
and (get this) all the drives work fine in my Xbox Series S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the question is.. what the hell is going on with that back usb port?
    1. does it black list a device as faulty (unlikely)2. Did it disable the USB port due to a random power surge (just like windows will do) - if so how do I fix?3. Do I have a faulty USB port (surely not - it works with older less power hungry devices)4. Do I need to send it in for repair?:

    Any advice please?

    :)

    Xbox Series X type-c port?

On the video, Xbox Series X has USB type A only.

The new controller, I think is type-A (Xbox Series X) to type-c (controller). (Elite2 is a to c usb)

    Xbox series X - AUDIO - USB vs 3.5mm headphones - Quality & Latency

I understand you about the xbox license.

I rather not want to have a wireless headset because I dont like charging and the battery life will decrease over time. So that leave me with two options:
    1. Wired, 3.5mm into the Xbox series x controller
    2. Wired, usb, into the Xbox series X

I checked the microsoft store and there are only 2 compatible series X headsets. Both wireles.

Do you know any wired Xbox series X headset? That is compatible with the series x? I prefer USB but have to go 3.5mm otherwise.

    Fault Series X

Hi there! This is Virginia O.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with the performance of your Xbox Series X.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

First let us get the Start up troubleshooter:

Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.

Press and hold the Pair button and the Eject button on the console, and then press the Xbox button  on the console.

NOTE: The Xbox Series S and the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition do not have Eject buttons. You can bring up the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter on this console by holding only the Pair button (steps 3 and 4) and then pressing the Xbox button .

Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.

The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

Once you see the troubleshooter, kindly choose: "Continue" and it will restart your Xbox device.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

Can you use external hard drives on xbox series s

    Hi,

Series X|S optimised games can only run on either the internal storage or expansion card. You can 'store' Series X|S on a USB hard drive/SSD for later but you can't play them from these drives as they're not fast enough.

Xbox One games that are not optimised for Series X|S can be run from USB Storage.
