    Xbox Series X turns off when idle


    Hi,

    I’m hoping someone can help, because up until now I have been unable to find a fix.

    So my Xbox Series X turns off when it is left idle for a period of time. At first I thought it might have been the settings so I checked the “turn off after” option and set it to do not turn off automatically. However it kept turning off, and btw this is
    not just into standby mode, its a full shutdown which then requires a full reboot!

    I have since worked out that it turns off at the exact time as the “dim screen after” setting. Therefore the maximum time I can have the console idle, without turning off, is 1 hour. This is a nightmare for game installs and updates.

    It is definitely not an overheating issue because it turns off at the exact minute of the setting and I have managed to keep it on for 6+ hours in other scenarios.

    I have made sure all TV & A/V power options are off as someone previously suggested it could be my tv turning it off. I have also tried a full reset of the console but that hasnt fixed the issue.

    I fear that I may need to send it for a repair but I am hoping someone else might know of a solution or someone at Microsoft can confirm its a known software issue that is being patched shortly.

    Not necessarily fifa 21 xbox one version crashes and turns mine off so does fortnite

    This is not helpful because it is the opposite problem. The Xbox turns back ON when you turn it off while still in dev mode. I have the same problem with Xbox Series X.

    I tried this on my new Xbox Series X and it is not working. The moment I turn off my xbox, the bandwidth monitor on my router goes to idle for the xbox. And the moment I pressed and held the controller button, the bandwidth monitor shows actvity shows max bandwidth used by xbox since it's instant on.

    I did the powercycle thing. No dice. Any other solutions? My console and controllers are all up to date as of today.
