  1. Xbox Series X turning off & Sound/Audio

My NEW Xbox Series X randomly freezes then turns itself off which is worrying seeing as the console has only been out for over 2 weeks. In addition, the audio has now decided to stop working throughout the whole xbox apart from when I am on a game. For
example, I hear no sound when on youtube or when someone sends a message. I have gone onto Settings > Volume & Output Audio > Speaker Audio > Stereo uncompressed but when I go off of settings, it changes back to HDMI audio off. I can not stress how disappointed
I am that this brand new Xbox Series X is having issues like this so soon after being released and would like help with this problem as soon as possible.

    :)

Xbox Series X - I can no longer turn off hdmi audio since installing the september update

I have almost the same problem except the error message says

“if you’re using Xbox series X/S, note that HDMI audio can’t be turned off. In other consoles, either optical or HDMI audio must be on. (0x80bd0009)

Why can’t I turn off hdmi audio on Xbox series x it makes no sense?

no sound in xbox 360 clips

Hello Manuel,my name is Vanessa, I will be happy to help you.

There are a couple of things you can try to fix this problem:

Update your Xbox Series X software.

Microsoft releases software updates frequently to fix problems and add new features.

To check if updates are available, follow these steps:

Press the Xbox  button on your controller.
    Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates & downloads.

If updates are available, they will be displayed on the screen.

Select Download and install to install the updates.

Check the audio settings on your Xbox Series X.

Make sure audio is enabled and the audio format is compatible with the 360 game.

To verify your audio settings, follow these steps:

Press the Xbox  button on your controller.

Select Profile & system > Settings > Sound.
Make sure the "Audio" option is enabled.
If the audio format is set to "Automatic", change it to "Stereo" or "Dolby Digital".

Restart your Xbox Series X. Sometimes a simple restart can fix minor issues. To reset your Xbox Series X, follow these steps:

Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.

When the console turns off, wait a few seconds and then turn it back on.

Xbox Series X audio broken for everything except stereo

    Hello AbeAustin,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing audio issues with your Xbox Series X and your Onkyo TX-NR6050 receiver. This sounds like a frustrating problem, and I will do my best to help you resolve it.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that there might be a compatibility issue between your receiver and the Xbox Series X audio formats. Some possible steps you can try are:

    - Make sure your receiver has the latest firmware update installed. You can check this by following the instructions on the Onkyo website: Onkyo | Homepage (onkyo-av.com)

    - Try using a different HDMI cable to connect your Xbox Series X and your receiver. Some HDMI cables might not support the bandwidth required for some audio formats.

    - Try changing the HDMI audio settings on your Xbox Series X. Go to Settings > General > Volume & audio output > HDMI audio. Try setting it to Bitstream out and see if that makes a difference.

    - Try changing the audio format settings on your receiver. Go to Setup > Audio > Audio Format. Try setting it to Auto or PCM and see if that works.

I hope this helps and you can enjoy your Xbox Series X with full surround sound soon.
