    Xbox Series X stuck in 640 x 680 resolution


    I recently bought a xbox series x and am using a LG C9 updated to the latest firmware.

    When i turn the xbox on it defaults to a resolution of 640 x 480 with no other options to change to other resoloutions, if i change the settings from “ autodetect” on the xbox to “hdmi” or “dvi” i am able to obtain resolutions of 720p, 1080p and 1440p however
    there is no option for 4k.

    Im using the HDMI cable that came with the xbox and have also tried other 2.1 cables to no avail. I also have a playstation 4 pro, apple tv and nvidia shield occupying the the other HDMI ports and these all display in 4k fine and exhibit no issues at all.

    Ive tried the following troubleshooting:

    * Reseting xbox to factory settings

    * Power cycling the xbox and tv

    * toggeling “ deep colour” on the tv settings

    * changing up hdmi ports

    * tried using a hdmi switch (this was reccomended on another forum)

    Im fraustrated as it seems to be an issue related to the xbox and c9, where as all my other gadgets work fine. I note this issue is popping up on other forums now but no one seems to have a work around.

    Has anyone had this issue or succefuly resolved it?

    It will not work on any other resolution besides the lowest one (640 x 480)

    I understand you need help with your HDMI problem.

    Try resetting the console with that same cable and see if it helps.

    NOTE: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

    No data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    2. Select Settings.

    3. Select System.

    4. Select Console info

    5. Select Reset console.

    6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

    This will also help sync the data on your console properly.

    Xbox One S stuck at 640 x 480 resolution

    Given you have tried multiple monitors and cables, then it does point to your console likely being at fault. The 640x480 is like a default display when there are issues....my Series X used to periodically display this on start-up as, for some reason, it would not detect the 4k side of my TV....luckily it always resolved by unplugging the HDMI lead and plugging it back in again.

    If I buy the Xbox one Hogwarts Legacy will I be able to play also on Xbox series X/S after is it compatible ?

    Virtually all Xbox One games are compatible

    It will not take advantage of the resolution and features of Series console. It will deliver Xbox One levels of performance on Series S, One X on Series X

    Still getting the "That didn't help" error

    Upon changing the Display Overrides from Auto-Detect to HDMI, the picture changed to a 640 x 480 resolution and 4K was not an available option. Interesting!
