its bad that Microsoft put the 1gb encrypted partition in the SSD with paired files.

making the SSD unswappable which the SSD will fail overtime and cant be now replaced because of paired files to the motherboard. that one little SSD can render the console useless.

why was this put in place was this extra security because Xbox has enough security in their consoles like paired disc drive and requiring

internet connection to do the initial setup that forces you to update and add a Microsoft account. or was it that Microsoft doesn't want to fix our own consoles anymore but wants us send it in to them for a high price. i find this is gonna be a major problem like the red ring of death on the Xbox 360 if Microsoft does not update the systems to make the SSD swappable. i find this an insult

of Microsoft making the SSD on the Xbox series x paired to the motherboard like the og Xbox. we should have a right to repair a console by our self instead of game over throw the console in the garbage because of SSD failure Microsoft do something about this don't ignore this thread and delete it.

    :)

xbox series x SSD will fail overtime and its not replaceable

Hello there, this is Manuela. I'm an Independent Advisor and community user like you, ready to assist with this.
    Not a Microsoft employee.

I understand you don't agree with how Microsoft manages the SSD on the next consoles. However, probably this encryption on the internal console SSD is for security reasons and to avoid unauthorized modifications.

As I'm not an employee, and most of our community members are regular users like you and me, it is not possible to share a more accurate reason.

Pre download Xbox Series X games

    Not really...

Xbox Series X games / upgrades / updates has to be installed onto the Series X internal or expansion card SSD,

You can have Xbox One games on your external hard drive that will get an Series X upgrade but the games will need to be transferred to the Series X and then the Series X upgrade will need to be downloaded onto the Series X SSD,

    As an example...

I have Marvel Avengers on my external hard drive that will get the Series X upgrade and I will transfer the game over to the Series X SSD ready to download and update the game to the Series X version when available.

Is Xbox series X/S internal SSD flaw will be solved in the future ?

Thank your for you insight !

I know well that any form disk drive has limited lifespan, in fact I never been worried about that, no !

You didn't get the point of my post, in simpler terms; when your console specific SSD dies, the entire console becomes useless, no SSD replacement ability so far. Xbox series X/S is designed this way. To become a brick the moment its internal SSD dies.

    Xbox one X

All Xbox One X consoles contain a standard 2.5" mechanical hard drive that is not user replicable. There are no official models with an SSD. Any discussions regarding replacing the internal drive are strictly prohibited on these forums.

You can use an external SSD on a One X. This can be one you can buy ready to plug in with the built-in USB cable or you can buy a standard SATA III SSD and attach it to a SATA to USB adaptor or via drive enclosure connected via USB.

Due to the low I/O speed of the One X, caused by its rather slow CPU, you can't get the same speed as you would with an external USB SSD on the Series X|S consoles.
