Xbox Series X/S wireless controller won't connect to bluetooth no matter what I do

Yes you read that title correctly, I already did whatever step there is known to man. But this controller, which is just 3 months old, just decided to stop connecting to any devices via Bluetooth.

Whenever I pair I just see Xbox Wireless Controller (4416). Any attempt to pair it just fails. Most of the time, even when Xbox icon is blinking fast (pair mode), my PC/Laptop/Phone won't detect the controller. I have to restart controller multiple times before it does see the controller - but still it won't pair afterwards.

Using controller via USB-C works, but that's not the point.

    History of Events:

    - I pair my controller to my Mac, PC and my Android phone, all works fine (for 3 months before firmware update)

    - I was notified that there is an update on Xbox controller firmware (June 7, 2021) so I downloaded Xbox Accessories App and updated the firmware

    - Same day of the update, was able to connect to Windows 10 via bluetooth right after the update, was able to play some games, no issues whatsoever

    - Same day of the update, connected to an Android TV to play some games, no issues whatsoever

    - Connected my Xbox controller using Android phone, was able to play some games, no issues whatsoever

    - Next morning, I was planning to connect controller to PC. Open controller by holding xbox button, press share button for 3 sec: Can't pair

    All My Attempted Fixes:

    - Tried to paired to my Android phone (tried more than 50 times) - Won't pair

    - Reset network settings of Android phone - Won't pair

    - Tried pairing it on Desktop PC with bluetooth - Won't pair

    - Tried pairing it with a Mac - Won't pair

    - Tried powering controller off then on before attempting to connect, then repeat steps above - Won't pair

    - Tried changing battery multiple times and repeat steps above - Won't pair

    - Tried holding share button for 10 sec until controller vibrate and open it again, then repeat steps above - Won't pair

    - Tried connecting to PC first, let Xbox accessories app detect it, then disconnect, then repeat steps above - Won't pair

    - Tried pairing with a Laptop that the controller never connected to - Won't pair

    - Tried pairing with another phone, an iPhone - Won't pair

    - Tried shaking it off, literally shook the controller - Still won't pair

    - Tried giving the controller some banging (maybe, just maybe) - Still won't pair

I have some theories why my bluetooth is broken:

    - Xbox internal wireless module is broken (is it possible it just breaks suddenly ?)

    - Firmware update broke something

    - Xbox might remember the last device it connected to and glitched from there. Last paired device was my phone, I didn't unpair it and just straight tried to connect it to PC, which didn't work. It was the first instance the controller can't connect to anything

If you guys have a fix for this, please let me know

    :)

Adapter Xbox 360 for PC and new controller.

    Hi,

    I’m Killing Skids

The Answer Is Yes as Long As it has Bluetooth or wireless connection
    Hi,

That's not quite right. Apologies for quoting you.

The Xbox 360 controller uses a proprietary wireless technology, it's not Bluetooth and the old adaptors won't work with a modern controller like the Xbox One or Series X|S controllers.

Unlike Xbox 360 wireless controllers, Xbox One and Series controllers can also be connected via USB cable. Old Xbox One controllers use Micro USB, Series Controllers are USB C.

To use an Xbox One/ Series controller via wireless on a PC and get basic functionality, all you need to do is connect the controller via Bluetooth. If your PC doesn't have Bluetooth then you'll need to buy a Bluetooth USB dongle, they're very cheap, less than $10. I'm from the UK and I connect my Series X controller to my PC via BT dongle I purchased from Amazon for about £5.

For extra wireless features you'll need the Xbox One Wireless Adaptor for Windows 10. Unfortunately, the official Microsoft branded adaptors are now quite rare.

Adaptador Windows para controle Xbox Series S/X

    Hello,

There isn't a specific adaptor for the Series X/S controllers for PC. The current adaptor works just fine with these newer controllers, however it is now in very short supply. There are third party ones available that do the same thing.

The Xbox 360 wireless controllers use a different WIFI protocol, they need their own Xbox 360 wireless Gaming Receiver.

Xbox One and Series X/S controllers can be connected to PC via Bluetooth, but headsets will only work with the Xbox One adaptor (or a third party version), they won't work when the controller is connected via BT

Will new XBOX Series X controllers work with the XBOX 360 Wireless Receiver on my PC

Why can't I pair up Bluetooth wireless earbuds with my console?

it uses wifi that the xbox has a receiver and sender for, similar to the microsoft pc wireless adapter but obviously built into the console.

no bluetooth at all. there is not a single bluetooth chip in the console, the modern xbox controller connect via wifi to the console or bluetooth to phones and pc if not using the adapter for pc. only the controller has bluetooth and this is basic at best.

Does the Xbox Series X or Series S support Bluetooth? | Windows Central

No Bluetooth for Xbox Series X

The Xbox Series X doesn't have Bluetooth, similarly to the Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X. The reason is simple; the Bluetooth signal isn't strong enough to meet Microsoft's specifications for latency. Microsoft uses its proprietary signal, dubbed Xbox Wireless, for connecting controllers and other accessories, like the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and the SteelSeries 9X wireless headsets.

Microsoft's signal is far stronger than Bluetooth. Since many people typically game while sitting far away from their consoles in the living room or so on, Bluetooth's susceptibility to interference increases exponentially at longer ranges. If you were hoping you could use a USB Bluetooth adapter, it wouldn't work either, as the Xbox Series X and other Xbox One consoles don't have the drivers necessary to power them.
