Xbox series x/s controller vibration not working in games, any fix?

Hi everybody,

here what's happening in short:

If the controller is connected via bluetooth it does not vibrate while playing games, but it does vibrate if I use any of the browser based testing app (like gamepad tester, etc)

The only way to make the controller vibration working while playing games is to start the game with the controller connected with the usb cable and then brutally detach the cable during gaming and wait for the controller to reconnect via bluetooth, then the vibration will work fine on the wireless connection.

Of course it's far from an ideal solution, it works just as a temporary fix, but I didn't found any other way to make this thing to works properly.

The controller is new, batteries fully charged, last firmware (5.9.2709.0) and updated apps on windows 10 (21h1 19043.1415).

I was hoping for a better integration than the ps5 controller, but for now the experience is not the best: is this a known bug? Any permanent solution to this?

Hi TomaXBOX2016!

Your Xbox Series X/S controller should still work normally on Xbox One console.

Make sure to change your vibration settings.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, and then select Profile & system > Settings.
Select Accessibility > Controller, and then select Vibration settings.
If you have multiple controllers, choose the controller that you want to change and select Configure.
For an Elite Series 2 controller, select the configuration profile that you want to change, select Edit > Vibration, and then move the sliders to adjust the vibration.
For an Xbox Wireless Controller, select Turn on vibration to turn vibration on or off.

How about you try to rollback the recent firmware update on the controller. That has been known to rectify issues with a latest firmware.

Connect your controller to my console via USB and follow the steps outlined below.

I don't have an xbox console to revert to an old firmware.

Also the controller doesn't have any connection issue or any major problem except it just doesn't vibrate while gaming wirelessly. It does vibrate using web app, and in game with the trick I explained before, so I have a strong feeling this is a bug, or it is an expected behavior.

If it's the expected behavior it should be in the documentation: I read that the microsoft xbox wireless adapter for windows 10 is required to get the vibration working in-game without wired connection, is that true or some incorrect statement?
