    Hi there,

    I have an XBOX Series X/S controller and I have been using it exclusively on a Win10 PC whilst connected to Bluetooth.

    I had a few Bluetooth connection issues (random dropouts linked to older firmware) so I updated it to the latest firmware using the Xbox accessories app and a usb-c cable. This seemed to work until the controller stopped connecting to any Bluetooth device (other PCs/Android/iPad OS).

    I managed to get the controller to connect to Bluetooth when using the 'reset'(!?) method, whereby you start the controller (slow flashing), then press and hold the 'connect' button (fast flashing) and continue to hold until the controller vibrates twice and turns off. This allowed me to connect (but only was effective once!)

    I don't believe it is a PC issue (as all drivers have been updated/reinstalled) and the fact the controller doesn't want to connect to any other devices indicates a controller issue. This really bad behaviour only started after the latest firmware was installed.

    I don't have an xbox, but the controller works OK with a USB-C cable. But, I bought it to use as a wireless controller!

    Any suggestions?

    The Series S and X controllers work on same devices the earlier controller can connect to. This includes:

    Xbox One Game receiver for Windows 10

    Bluetooth (PC, Android, iOS)

    Xbox One, One S, X and Series X/S.

    Any controller used to connect to a mobile device, needs to be Bluetooth. The Xbox series One Elite controller isn't and depending on which generation of standard controller you have, would determine if it had Bluetooth capabilities. The ones that do are
    the ones that came out for the Xbox One S.

    Hi ViperMagma, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

    The Xbox Wireless Controller that comes with Xbox Series X|S includes a feature that allows for quickly switching between a paired Bluetooth device and an Xbox console. If the controller is connected to a Bluetooth device, double-press the Pair button, and the controller will immediately switch its connection to the last Xbox console it was paired to. Then, to switch back to the paired Bluetooth device, press and hold the Pair button to start pairing mode. The controller will automatically connect to the Bluetooth device you were just using while it also searches for new devices – just in case you want to connect a different Bluetooth device or Xbox. If it doesn’t find a new device nearby in pairing mode, it will remain connected to the previous Bluetooth device.

    As of the moment, the said feature is not yet available on Xbox Elite Series 2. But what I always do is make sure that when you turn on your devices such as PC or Laptop, the Bluetooth is turned off then turn the controller on first before turning on the Bluetooth for it to automatically reconnect.

    The Xbox Series X|S controller does not replace your mobile device’s touchscreen controls; instead, it acts as a separate Bluetooth input source for games that are compatible with the controller.

    (This means that not being able to control your device with a controller was intentional. It only works in-game.)
