  1. Xbox series x resolution and refresh rate

Long story short, I recently bought a Samsung odyssey crg9 for my Xbox series x. It supports 5120 x 1440 @ 60 hz resolution with an hdmi (hdmi 2.0 port) and 5120 x 1440 @ 160 hz with a display port. I can’t get the Xbox to go upwards from 60 hz at 1440. I have tried a 2.1 hdmi cable and a display port to hdmi cable and neither have worked. Anyone else run into this problem?

    :)

Xbox series x resolution and refresh rate

Hi I'm just another gamer on Xbox Series X. I have a 55" Samsung QLED model QN55Q70AAFXZA and I must say it is amazing. Alexa and voice commands built in (though I have that turned off). I was urged to not mess with the picture settings to much as the TV is more than a smart TV. I just chose "Game Mode" and left it at that. I have access to the internal graphics settings but one must study up on what the "Lighting" language actually translates into. My model will automatically use the highest refresh rate need for the game mode. I messed with it a bit when I bought, set it back to default and just picked "Game Mode". Back lighting and Brightness can be deceiving in terminology. Samsung also suggest we register our products with them by signing up for an account with them. You'll be glad you did. Sincerely

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.

Hope you're doing great today despite this Oscar

If you want to use 120fps with an HDMI 2.0 monitor you need to set the resolution to 1080p
If you set the resolution above that, the 120hz refresh rate is not going to appear.

"4K gaming at 120 frames per second is available if you have ALL of the following:
    An Xbox Series X console
An Ultra High Speed HDMI cable that supports HDMI 2.1
A TV that supports HDMI 2.1"

The Xbox series X will feature a custom AMD Zen 2 processor that promises four times the power of the Xbox One X. Other features include ray tracing support, up to 120fps gameplay, 8K resolution, GDDR6 memory and variable refresh rate support.

    4k 120hz not working

Thank you for contacting us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    good night

    Microsoft claims that:

"4K games with 120 frames per second are available if you have all of the following:

    an Xbox Series X console

an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable with support for HDMI 2.1

    an HDMI 2.1 compliant TV

To enable 4K games at 120Hz, press the Xbox  button to open the panel and select Profile & System > Settings > General > TV & Display Options. Make sure your Resolution is set to 4K UHD and set Refresh Rate to 120Hz.

Note If you have an Xbox Series S console or your TV does not support HDMI 2.1, you can still enable 120Hz gaming at a lower resolution. To do this, set your Refresh Rate in TV and Video Options to 120Hz. If your resolution was previously set to 4K, the console will automatically adjust the resolution to support the 120Hz refresh rate. Otherwise, select a resolution among the available options."

if you set the correct settings and not the image or it doesn't reach the 4k resolution it is not compatible to run in this resolution on the Xbox X series.

It depends on what resolution your going to play at and the resolution of the tv,

if 4K, you need HDMI 2.1 to get 4K at 120hz refresh rate,

HDMI 2.0 will only allow 4K at 60hz.

if your at 1080p/1440p, HDMI 2.0 will be ok for 120hz refresh rate, however if it is 1080p/1440p i would recommend getting the Xbox Series S as that is aimed at 1080p/1440p.
