Xbox Series X overheating during extended gameplay sessions

I've been experiencing an issue with my Xbox Series X where it seems to overheat after I've been playing for an extended period of time, usually around 3 to 4 hours. The console becomes extremely hot to the touch, and I've even had it shut down a few times without warning due to overheating. I've ensured that the console is placed in a well-ventilated area with plenty of space around it, away from any direct heat sources.

I also regularly clean the vents to avoid dust buildup, yet the problem persists. I've tried reducing the graphics settings in games and even playing shorter sessions, but it hasn't resolved the issue. I am wondering if anyone else has faced similar problems and could provide any insights or solutions. Could this be a hardware defect that needs professional attention? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Vasiliki, it is not something normal and less in this console model since its cooling system is very efficient, has it verified that there is no excess dust in all the ventilation grilles and even in the fan grille? if there are no traces of being clogged by dust, the recommendation is definitely to send your console to Technical Service for a check.

The fact that the console shuts down directly due to overheating is already a sign that something is definitely not working well.

high-end electronics get hot during gameplay, because you're working them hard, this is going to continue to happen and continues with more current systems as well. Heat is not a problem, unless the system tells you it's overheating.

The normal temperature range for a graphics card is in the 80s celsius/180F. they get hot

Mine goes off after 2 to 3 hours of gameplay. Xbox ambassador advised me to carry out a soft reset on the console.

Believe it may be an issue with overheating. Both Xbox Series X games and normal games seem to be crashing for me.

My issue is with the console's fan getting really loud during gameplays and not it actually 'overheating'.

Do you have an external hard drive. If so you should try moving the game to the other hard drive. Also do you have an xbox one x? Xbox one x's sometimes shut off during cutscenes and gameplay in some games like the latest call of duty, borderlands 3
and resident evil 0. The console will think its overheated and shutdown.
