Xbox Series X overheating and shuts off

It’s clean, it’s well ventilated, it’s standing up, I have extra cooling fans… and yet it keeps doing it when I play games. It’s not even hot or warm. Just shuts the **** off and gives me the “over heating” message when I turn it back on. It’s bull. It’s not even 6 months old.

The Xbox One X will shut off should there be overheating, yes.

If you are using external cooling fans, stop. All you’re doing is putting strain on the system.

The system is already designed to cool itself properly, and around very specific airflow. If you’re getting an overheating message without a jet engine fan, that likely means it’s died, which is why it’s overheating.

This thing still overheats and shuts off randomly. Especially if I play GTA V.

I was having the overheating issue from playing in the Rec. As soon as there is a dead ball, the xbox would shut off. I have the seagate Storage Expansion Card for xbox series x. I just moved the game to the Storage Expansion Card. It has been working fine for me since.
