Xbox series X overheating and not installing games overnight

So I got my xbox series X on christmas last year and everytime I go to play a series X/S game I can maybe play it for an hour before my xbox just shuts off and when I turn it on I get the overheating message but my xbox is vertical and each vent has about a foot of breathing room its not enclosed in any cabinet and ive tried both power saving and standby modes.

Then, when I try to install games overnight even though i have it on standby and have "when xbox is off, turn off storage" off it still wont work because when I turn my xbox on to check the next day its showing the start up instead of just going right to my dashboard and my download is right where it left off the night before.

The Xbox Series X turns itself off randomly to protect itself from overheating or when there is no power.The majority of reports of the Xbox
Series X turning off appear to be related to next-gen games like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Havent got any overheating once for the series x yet.

In my experience the notification about overheating occurs after you turn the console back on after letting it cool down, about an hour. I've never seen it before it turns off, and only had overheating on a Xbox One X. The side tiny vents were blocked with dust which required vacuuming out every other month.

Haven't had overheating on my Xbox Series X.

Elden Ring is resource intensive. Could you hear Series X fan working overtime while you were playing?

If so I would send the console back to get repaired and / or replace it.

This is only happening with bf 2042. I play in the series X console. I don’t think it’s a case of overheating or anything as my console is clean and has never overheated before. In terms of troubleshooting, I have re installed game, soft reset my console. Messed around with a bunch of setting like MAC address, cleared the save files etc. still nothing is working.
