  1. Xbox Series X not recognizing Q950t as atmos/DTS:X capable

Thank you in advance to the person that has a solution!

Backstory: I currently have an Xbox series X connected to an LG CX 55’ (Input 1) with a Samsung 950T soundbar system running from the from it’s eArc port to the CX’s eArc input (HDMI 2).

All three machines are up to date with the latest firmware.

The CX sound settings are set to “bitstream”, “eArc on”, and audio pass through selected.

The soundbar is set to the eArch input and game mode for it’s sound settings.

The Xbox series X is set to 4K, 120Hz, VRR, bitstream out and I have downloaded/attempted to set up both the Dolby atmos and DTS:X apps...unfortunately the Xbox brings up an error message thats states my audio setup does not support atmos or DTS:X. I can select the first two sound selections when in bitstream out (Dolby Digital and DTS), and sound resonates from the bar/back speakers in these options, but neither of these options are atmos or DTS:X.

So far I have tried swapping cables on the console and soundbar with other HDMI 2.1 cables, changed up the inputs (minus the eArc ports on the TV and soundbar which were unplugged/replugged in), performed hard resets on all units, factory reset and re-downloaded firmware on all machines, and tried every solution I could find to remedy the issue. In addition I have talked to Microsoft tech support, Samsung tech support, LG tech support, and Microsoft tech support a second time (in that order, at the advice of each devices tech support)

I am able to selected the atmos setting if I change the CX’s audio setting from “pass through” to “auto” but receive an unacceptable sound delay that throws off games and movies alike. Likewise if I plug the xbox into the soundbar’s HDMI 1 (non eArch) input, which also adds a noticeable input delay.

Looking around different forums it appears I’m not the only one with this issue. My best guess is it’s a compatibility/firmware issue with either eArch as a whole on the LG CX and/or Q950t (being new tech and all) or a firmware/compatibility issue with the Xbox series X (also new tech).

I’m a massive fan of Xbox’s first party lineup and love the features I receive with it in conjunction with the CX (4K, 120hz, VRR). I selected the Q950t given its favorable performance reviews but can’t comment on my experience in atmos and DTS:X given the Series X doesn’t recognize the system as supporting either audio experience...

Appreciate any possible solutions (or an inside scoop into whether firmware updates to fix the issue are incoming!). I’d prefer to keep my current setup but am leaning toward returning the Q950t and trying another atmos/DTS:X soundbar.

Xbox One X Dolby Atmos not working

My Xbox One X is connected to my receiver. When I try to setup Atmos in the audio settings Xbox One X says that my receiver, Denon AVR-4300H, does not have Atmos capability. I am only allowed to choose DTS for the bitstream sound output. Atmos works fine
with my Samsung 4K player so I know it is an Xbox One X issue.

The Dolby App does not give any error until I try to view the demo videos where it flashes, "you are not viewing this video on Dolby Atmos." It plays the demo video on DTS instead.

Xbox Series X November Update broken sound.

    Xbox Series X >> Vizio SB3651 NS-H6 >> 75" TU7000 4K HDR

My old Xbox One X worked perfectly with this setup. I had ARC features, 4K with HDR, 5.1 audio and Dolby Atmos. The Atmos is a mystery because my bar isn't advertised as being capable but the sound quality was great. I could mention that the Sat/TV port also worked flawlessly but that's a another issue entirely.

I finally get my hands on a Xbox Series X in December '21. The display auto detect goes straight to the lowest potato resolution possible. Manually selecting HDMI I can only get 1080p. I can manually select up to 5.1 audio but it sounds questionable. Now 7.1, Dolby Atmos, & DTS are available to select but absolutely muted.

Why break something nobody asked you to fix? The November update says "streamlined audio experience" Is streamlined a euphemism for omitted capabilities and compatibility now?

Xbox series x not recognizing Dolbe Atmos or DTS

Hi,Matthew! I'm Luis, a fellow Xbox Gamer . Thanks for reaching us out here.

    Multiple Reports

Just as a heads up, we are currently receiving multiple reports regarding this particular license issue, however, no official announcements have been made by Microsoft or Dolby .In the meantime we can just perform troubleshooting steps.

    Full Power cycle

Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button  on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

Once the lights on the front of the console, unplug the power cable from the rear of the console.

    Wait at least 30 seconds.

Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button  on the console or the Xbox button  on your controller.

After that test your sound again

    Playing 4k blu ray disk

Thanks for the reply but that's is what I would like to avoid is using digital optical.my receiver is capable of decoding Atmos and Dts X that's why I want to pass the audio through the hdmi cable because of the limitations of the optical cable. The hdmi
cables that I have are 2.0b.
