Xbox apparently no longer lets you watch TV through your xbox as the hdmi in slot no longer exists in the new Xbox series X. I thought new machines were supposed to have MORE features and compatibilities not less? I thought Microsoft WANTED us to use its
system for our home setup. Why is it forcing me to go around it to watch tv? The hdmi in slot was how i ran my signal from the cable box into the xbox. Why did they do this?

    :)

Xbox series X no longer has an hdmi in slot which means you can no longer play TV through your Xbox system. Why?

This time around Microsoft are focusing on what they should have focused on when they released the Xbox One, games.

If it been games then rather than some convoluted all-in-one entertainment system then perhaps the system would have been both hardware and sales comparable to its closest rival.

Not a great, wanted or indeed heavily used feature. To add it would have added additional complexity and cost to the system. Most TV's have multiple HDMI ports now, its not really needed anyway.

    Hi JonLuck.

Not many people was using the feature, so the team cut it. A classic cost vs. features.

That the Xbox Series X supports HDMI 2.1 doesn't mean your TV needs to support that too. You can user your old TV with the Series X for sure.

    hdmi sound has static

^^^^Like Ice Storm said please plug in the HDMI cable into a different HDMI slot on your tv and change the input and see if that works. This will rule out that the HDMI slot has become faulty on your TV. Or you can also try to plug something different in
the same HDMI slot on your TV and you will get the same check to see if it is your TV's HDMI slot. If that doesn't fix the problem and your TV's HDMI slot is fine then it most likely is that the HDMI slot in the XBOX has become faulty. Try plugging the Xbox
into a different HDMI slot on a different TV and see if that fixes the problem. If that does not that will be proof positive that the HDMI slot in your 360 has become faulty and it is time to set up a repair

Xbox Series X connection to older AVR’s

well the xbox series x has one HDMI port, so you would need to either upgrade your audio kit, connect tv via optical if supported or by a hdmi to hdmi/optical splitter which would then not pass through any hdmi 2.1 features.
