  1. Xbox series x need help with screen tearing issue

So I brought the samsung odyssey g7 monitor, amazing monitor at first, everything works perfectly. So I set the monitor refresh rate to 120hz and selected in the xbox settings 120hz 1440p, everything is working perfectly, until I noticed a screen tearing
issue where the tear would happen at the top of the monitor screen and then starts traveling slowly to the bottom of the monitor screen, when it hits the bottom the tearing is gone. So after 30 minutes or so the tearing would come back and repeat its problem.
So I decided to put the monitor refresh rate to 144hz and select 120 hz 1440p option in the xbox settings. The tearing is no longer noticeable if not at all present. But I do not know if setting the monitor refresh rate to 144hz will make 120 fps work incorrectly
on the xbox as I play competitive warzone, so I want the most advantage I can receive. I do not know if I receive a placebo because when I select 144hz for the monitor and play 120 hz 1440p on the xbox settings for warzone, the game felt stuttered but when
I select 120hz on the monitor and 120hz 1440p on the xbox, warzone felt smooth, can someone explain to me if setting 144hz will not display 120fps correctly on the xbox, and I am not receiving a placebo? What should I do? 144 hz on the monitor and120 hz 1440p
selected on the xbox, or 120 hz on the monitor and 120 hz 1440 selected on the xbox?

    :)

Screen tearing with Xbox Series X.

    Hello @ArTiiC JoKeRz!

I would recommend circuit resetting your Xbox. This can be done by holding down the Xbox button on your console for 15 seconds. I'm not entirely sure if this helps. Also check your storage. You may have too much downloads clogging up the console storage. Try the circuit reboot.

    Xbox series X screen tearing.

You should contact your monitor manufacturer about that, as their monitors failing to sync. Make sure the monitor firmware is updated

Hi BobbyXVR, my name is Jhon, and will be a pleasure help you

Yes, the ALLM feature works if you turn it off on one of the devices and turn it on on the other.

ALLM, or Auto Low Latency Mode, is a feature that allows the TV to automatically switch to a low latency mode when an input signal from a compatible device is detected. This feature can help improve the gaming experience by reducing the delay between controller input and the action being displayed on the screen.

In your case, it seems that your TV does not support Freesync, which is a technology that also helps reduce input lag. Therefore, if you enable ALLM on both devices, the TV will try to switch to a low latency mode that is not supported by your TV. This can cause display problems, such as screen tearing.

To fix this issue, you can disable ALLM on one of the devices. If you turn it off on the Xbox, the TV will remain in its default picture mode, which should be supported by your TV.

Another option is to update your TV's firmware. There may be an update that includes Freesync support.

    best regards, Jhon

Why does the Xbox One X force all content (including streaming video) into ALLM if VRR is also selected?

The issue isn't if console games have screen tearing or not. That is what the VRR is designed to do. It also helps smooth out some screen jittering due to inconsistent frame rates. You are completely entitled to your opinion if it is needed or not, that
was not the purpose of my response.

The reason you don't see screen tearing issues with console games is because the frame rates are generally locked to either 30 or 60 fps. If the system can run the game at a near constant 30 or 60 fps you won't get screen tearing. The only need for VRR
is for the games that developers are turning off the frame limiters on.

However screen tearing on consoles happen. It is infrequent but it does happen. It is usually very quick and most of the time people will not notice it happens.

Here is a video of an example of screen tearing in Borderlands on the XBOX ONE:
