Xbox Series X loud ticking sound

Hi,

i have only had the new console about an hour (to download updates) and my console is making a loud ticking noise. Suspected this may be the disc drive so took the disc out - this didnt work. Also doing it from start up and also whilst the console is turned
off (with power cable plugged in still)..

really disappointing on a brand new console..

anybody else experiencing this?!

My new Xbox Series X is doing the exact same thing! It only seems to be happening when it's downloading. When it installs the update, it gets quiet again. It's really annoying!

Its strange as it has actually stopped now but it is idle on the home screen..

spoke with an xbox person via the chat and they advised it wasnt ventillated but it is in a unit with plenty of small and no issue for my previous Xbox One!

That's not right at all. My Series X is almost silent, running Series X games or Xbox One games.

If it sounds that loud either there is a hardware fault or the consoles' location is not ideal.

While it's true that some games will make the system hotter, it should not sound like a hoover, even my high end gaming PC (self built) doesn't get that loud and it can reach 84C.

My Xbox One makes the loud ticking sound when I go to the screen to select the towers. What the hell is that about?

I have the Series X and the One X presently. I don't have the tickling issue though but I searched on YouTube like you said and in my experience, it isn't something to worry about.
