Xbox series x light on but nothing happening?

sounds like a power fault somewhere , i would hold down the power button for 10 - 15 seconds to fully power down the console, unplug the device then hold the button again for another 10-15 seconds to completely discharge the console.

Then ensure that your console is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector or extension and try booting the console again.

If this continues try with another HDMI cable as sometimes this can cause issue.

if neither of these work then i would head over to xbox.com/support and request a repair once trouble shooting steps have been completed

Still not working I’ve tried everything

I have tried most of that it was working fine for weeks now when you hold the button on the controller the Xbox won’t turn on at all so you have to get up and turn it on manually by the button on the console when doing so it lights up makes them toys but will not boot up at all I have noticed that’s when I push the Xbox button on the console to turn it on there seems to be quite a lot of heat coming out of the top instantly The console is set to eco-mode not instant on

Please check the following points:

• Confirm that both your TV and console are turned on
  
• Check that your TV is set to the correct input signal (HDMI)
  
• Check that the HDMI cable connections to your console and to your TV are secure
  
• Check that the HDMI cable is connected to the "out to TV" port on the console
  
• Try plugging the HDMI cable into a different HDMI port on your TV
  
• Try using a different HDMI cable to connect your console to your TV
  
• Try connecting your console to a different TV
  
• Power cycle your console: Press and hold the Xbox button for 10 seconds to turn off the console, and then turn it on again
  

If the issue persists, try resetting your display settings

1. If there's a disc in the console, eject it.
   
2. On the console, press and hold the Xbox button for 10 seconds to turn off the console.
   
3. Press and hold the Xbox button and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You’ll hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep. Don’t let go until you hear the second beep or see the console start up in low resolution mode (the Xbox startup screen will appear slightly pixelated).
   
   • Note If you have an Xbox Series S or Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, you’ll need to press and hold the Xbox button and the Pair button instead, as your console does not have an Eject button.
     
4. In either case, this will start up your console in low resolution mode (640 × 480). To change this setting, press the Xbox button to open the guide. Go to Profile & system > Settings > General > TV & display options, and then select the resolution you want from the Display dropdown.
   
5. If you’re required to complete these steps on every startup, you’ll want to change your TV connection to HDMI as shown in step 3 of the next section, "Your screen is blank and you use an AVR in your setup." For more info, see How to adjust the display settings on your Xbox.

Nothing out of the ordinary happened; Other than the Xbox killing itself. No bad weather, strenuous devices, or anything. The Xbox was the only thing making the weird noise, the lights flickering one time happened afterwards, and immediatly before it started smoking. I've only had three things connected to this power strip; The 43" TV, Xbox Series X, and PS5. All were off when this happened. All lights on were LED 3W and there was literally nothing that should have warranted this. I'm a truth over appearances guy, so my feelings come second. Tell me what tests I can run and I'll do that; But baseless assumptions do nothing for me. I will be transparent, honest and vulnerable throughout the process however. After witnessing this first hand, all of those Xbox Series X's "smoking from the top" and being disregarded as "people blowing vape smoke into them" and "power surges" is not only suspicious, but disingenuous. Especially since now, all Microsoft Stores are closed at this very convenient time during these things happening and there's no real offline support.
