Xbox series X is infinitely selecting certain things in the home menu

Even if I have all controllers turned off, the Xbox selects my profile in the startup profile selection screen.

When I move around the different apps and such the animation is as if I am selecting them by pressing A but it doesn’t load me into the game.

When I click on one of the “recently added” game pass options just below my recent games in the home menu, if I scroll to the showcased pictures of the game it forces me into the zoomed in version, as if I pressed A on them, and I have to rapidly spam B and a direction to exit, as it rapidly automatically selects the picture against my will.

When I go into settings, the select noise repeats over and over like a Tommy gun. In bursts.

I’ve tried refreshing the homepage and performing a power cycle, but neither of those helped. I also had a different issue in the homepage before, where the Xbox would scroll down forever. That more common problem was fixed with a factory reset.

I’ve also ruled out the button on my controller being broken because I used tried all of my controllers and the problem still happened.

I don’t really want to factory reset AGAIN to fix another home screen problem, so if there’s any other option I can take I would like to know.

I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

Please check for stuck buttons because even though you've ruled out controller issues, make sure that there are no buttons on your console itself (like the power or eject buttons) are stuck or malfunctioning.

And then disconnect accessories by unplugging any connected accessories (external hard drives, headsets, etc.) and see if the issue persists because there are times that the accessories can cause unexpected behavior.

Next is to get the Start up Troubleshooter.

To do this, power off your console and unplug the power cord.

Press and hold the Pair and Eject buttons, then press the Xbox button.

Release the Pair and Eject buttons after hearing two power-up tones.

Select "Continue" to restart your Xbox.

Then update console. Kindly ensure that your Xbox is running the latest system update. Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Updates" and check for updates.

I don't think it'll be that big on an issue since it's not Xbox One Series X just Xbox Series X. I did wish it was called Xbox Infinite though.

hello, I searched in the menu settings of my xbox series x, I did not find the "My home Xbox" tab. are you telling me about the right console? Sincerely.

Hey Wufnstein! Are you in the Insider Program? I would suggest starting with a power cycle by holding the power button for 10 seconds and then turning the console back on to see if it helps clear that issue up. Post back and let me know!
