thanks for the help Lucas. I’m not sure how to update offline since the three options it gives me on that first error page with the code 0x8B050084 0x00000000 0x00000201 only has three options: try again, check network or turn off console

I did so i did the factory reset i have not had a problem of it turning back off but it still is stuck in the set up mode trying to update but still lacks a wireless receiver. my error code is 0x8B050084 0x00000000 0x00000201

Also, Is your son part of the Xbox Insider program? Because Xbox consoles enrolled in the Xbox Insider Program receive preview updates, performing an Offline System Update (OSU) will not resolve this issue.

It might also be worth resetting your router or trying a different network, if possible. A mobile hotspot or over a wired connection perhaps?
