1. XBOX Series X HDMI Port Damaged

Hello, I purchased an XBOX Series X for my son for Christmas 2022, I have the console in a stand that no one would be able to get to unless you stand up on a stool or something. On April 16, 2023 my son was playing on his XBOX and the TV went blanked and stated that there was no connection to the HDMI that's used by the XBOX. Is this covered by a warranty or is this something that is my responsibility? I am hoping that this is under warranty being that it was so much to pay to get the console and not having any way of getting to the port to cause any damage.

I did take a look at the reviews for this and was surprised at the number of customers that is having the same issue with the particular console.

    :)

New xbox series x won't work with hdmi cable it came with

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    good evening

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble getting your Xbox Series X to work with the HDMI cable it came with.

Make sure the HDMI cable is securely plugged into the correct HDMI port on your TV and your Xbox Series X.

Try a different HDMI port on your TV to see if that fixes the problem.

Check for any visible damage to the HDMI cable, such as frayed wires or bent connectors. If you find any damage, try using a different HDMI cable.

Power cycle your TV and your Xbox Series X. To do this, turn off both devices, unplug them from the wall, and wait a few minutes before plugging them back in and turning them on again.

Check for any updates for your TV or Xbox Series X and install them if necessary.

Damaged Xbox series X HDMI port

Hi, Jerambo! thank you for reaching out.
My name is AJ, I'm an Independent Advisor for the Xbox Community.

I understand you have some questions regarding your console's warranty service order.

    > but want to know how long it could take once I ship it off to get fixed?

A: After your console has been received at Microsoft's service center, the average time of service is 14 to 21 days, including shipping time.

    > Also will I get the Xbox I purchased shipped back after repair or will I get a refurbished Xbox?

A: Microsoft will attempt to repair your console, but if this is not possible, your console may be replaced with a new or refurbished unit.

You can find more information on warranty service orders and plans, at: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-ne...

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
    Best regards.

And what if I buy a cable will it work
The Xbox Series X will come with a HDMI 2.1 cable,

But whether you use a HDMI 2.1 cable or not, the HDMI port on the TV needs to be HDMI 2.1 to achieve the 120hz refresh rates at 4K.

using a HDMI 2.1 cable on a TV port with HDMI 2.0 will still only limit the Xbox Series X to 60hz refresh rates.

So o can connect the hdmi 2.1 to a regular 4 k 2.0 hdmi port but I will not get the full experience or
there will be like some xbox series xs that have different cables.
No, The Xbox Series X has a HDMI 2.1 port therefore it will always ship with a HDMI 2.1 cable,

Xbox Console HDMI PortHDMI CableTV HDMI Port

Xbox Series X, HDMI 2.1HDMI 2.1HDMI 2.1 = 4K at 120hz

Xbox Series X, HDMI 2.1HDMI 2.1HDMI 2.0 = 4K at 60hz

"So o can connect the hdmi 2.1 to a regular 4 k 2.0 hdmi port but I will not get the full experience or there will be like some xbox series xs that have different cables."

Yes, you can connect a HDMI 2.1 cable to a HDMI 2.0 port on your TV, you'll just be limited to 4K at 60hz, which is no different to what it like to play on the Xbox One X right now,

Xbox Console HDMI PortHDMI CableTV HDMI Port

Xbox One X, HDMI 2.0HDMI 2.0HDMI 2.0 = 4K at 60hz

Xbox One X, HDMI 2.0HDMI 2.0HDMI 1.4 = 4K at 24hz to 30hz

As long as you have HDMI 2.0 port on your TV you'll be fine to use the Xbox Series X, but if your wanting to experience 4K at 120hz, you'll need a TV or Gaming monitor that has HDMI 2.1 ports.
