Xbox Series X Game Sharing Issue Feb 2021

Hello, i figured that it would just be easier to maybe get an answer here on Microsoft’s end.

Me and my boyfriend have been game sharing with our xboxs for a long time, a couple of years at least and we have never come across any issues with our game share and WERE able to play together in a multiplayer game like Overwatch.

However, he recently bought the digital version of Call of Duty: Cold War and have been playing it for a few days together with no issues. This morning, I was bombarded with crashes trying to get into the game after my console automatically updated the night before and I couldn’t even get past the splash screen. The game kept crashing everytime I would attempt to load into it then my xbox would just freeze and turn itself off from it trying to load the game. Minutes later my boyfriend goes ahead and updates his console because he had an update available and when he gave it a shot it did the same thing as mine did. Now we can’t be on Overwatch at the same time because we also gameshare that game as well since I own it.

So what is going on? Did this update ruin our gameshare? We have tried to restart our consoles and refresh things and it just won’t work. Btw we both have the Series X.

I bought the Series X back in Feb. 2021 and I think the 3 month warranty has been passed (assuming it starts upon purchase). I have a "Microsoft Limited Warranty" that will expire on March 2022 but I'm not sure if that covers hardware. I did have a glimpse at the "out of warranty" repairs but did not see a controller listed except for the Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 (I'm US territory).

May have nothing to do with the issue but it should be noted!

Some Series X/S games (Like Madden) you can only play people with the series X/S

Make sure the the correct version is installed on the consoles, X/S games do not run on the Xbox one.

We are having the same exact issue on my son's XBOX Series X and the F1 2021 game. We ran thru the steps above and still get the same error. Any other ideas?

i personally think that vr would be great however i dont think it would be released when the xbox series x is released i think it will either be a mid 2021 release or a fall 2021 release (that is of course if it is in the works) but they have said that
they are souly focusing on the series x

Sadly none of the Conflict series of games have been made BC. The BC program ended in 2021, there will be more Xbox 360 or original Xbox games playable on the Xbox One or Series X|S consoles.
