Xbox series x game crashes then returns to home screen

It’s possible that the local save for your game has become corrupted. If so, deleting the local save and re-syncing with the cloud might correct the problem.
First, delete the local save:
1. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide and then select My games & apps > See all > Games.
2. Highlight the game title, and then press the Menu button  on your controller.
3. Select Manage game and add-ons > Saved data.
4. Select Delete all to remove the local save of this game, then follow the prompts.
After you delete the local save, restart your Xbox:
1. Press and hold the Xbox button  in the center of your controller.
2. Select Restart console, then follow the prompts.
After you restart your Xbox, re-sync your saved games to the cloud. Your saved games are automatically stored in the cloud while you’re connected to Xbox Live.
Try playing the game again to see if re-syncing with the cloud corrected the game problem.

I am having a similar issue. I get into a game and the game crashes and brings me back to hom home screen. I am on a series X and purchased the game.

I have the same issue since yesterday on my series X. I Tried firing up my old Xbox and the game works on the old console, adding a car to the garage, to make sure it updates the cloud save. Then connecting series x again and the game still won't start, returns to home screen after the copyright blabla screen.

I have reset the console and done all steps as provided as well.

When I clear save data and go offline (taking out the cable) , I can start the game. But of course, will have to create a new horizon profile. When going back online, the game crashes again

I’ve sent in my xbox series x twice now, waiting for the 3rd one to arrive. You definitely wont get the same xbox back. If the xbox doesn’t work this time I have to switch to the series S or goto playstation. (Game disc wouldn’t read, it would crash constantly.. or home screen me)
