Xbox Series X Forza 4 locked up not responding to remote

Hi,

New to Xbox and started with Forza 4 (life-long PC gamer, first console)

I've played for several hours, races and story elements. Today I got to an event flag location and exited.

When I restarted the system resumes from the same place but then started trying to join a Horizon Session or something and gets stuck (I never asked it to, I just wanted the built-in next game race). Problem is now the Xbox has partially stopped responding to the remote in this game only, so I can't exit or go to the menu to set a new destination. Restarting the Xbox just dumps me in the same place.

The 4 buttons do not work, the menu button does nothing.

Triggers and L/R buttons work, and the sticks and pads work but it just won;t do anything else, no races, no guidance

I seem to be able to send those useless "pseudo" chats using the d-pad.

Anyone any ideas, I've seen plenty of reports of Forza 4 bugging out on PC, but none on an Xbox

Have you tried restarting the game itself and not just the console? To fully quit the game, press the Xbox button no the controller and go Home, then highlight the game, click the menu button on the controller and go to Quit. Then restart the game.

Restarting the game returned me to the same position.

The thing that finally worked for me was deleting all local Forza 4 data on my profile and letting it resync with the cloud.

That bumped me back to my status a few days ago and everything then worked. I assume the last save data got corrupted but hadn't synced. Not sure what I'd've done if it had synced as there appears to only be a delete all data option and no roll back facility.

It's my first console experience, been a PC gamer for years. As such I'm used to occasional problems due to the sheer range of possible hardware configs, but I'd rather naively assumed consoles were largely immune to major functionality bugs. This one in particular seems to be quite a big one as it disables the menu.

Hi.Im using an Xbox X console. I've had issues with newer games. Locking up, crashing, taking me back to the dash board. Games like Forza Motorsport and Horizon 4 and 5etc where playing up. Forza 7 and Wolvenstein and Halo worked fine. I took the risk and bought a new Xbox X. Now everything is working 100% Hope that helps

Have you went through the steps of turning on remote play on the console? What are you using to use the remote play options ie: computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone? You have to go through the settings to set it up. You can follow this link and it will give you step by step instructions:
