  1. Xbox series x fan at full speed and won't go back to normal operation speeds

Hello, so I started downloading all my games again on the new series x and it was working as normal, as it was going to take a while I turned the xbox off (in stant on mode) so it could download overnight. I wake up about a half hour later to the fan going
full bore 100% speed, I felt the top and there was zero heat.

I did a full shut down, didn't work.

    I did a soft reset, didn't work.

I commenced a factory reset without deleting games and save files, didn't work.

Fan still runs at full speed at all times.

What's the go with this and has anyone else experienced this?

    Thanks,

    :)

why does my xbox one x say my ssd is too slow

It should br noted the speed requirements is jlnot just limited go the port

Thr read ANd write speeds count not all hdds and ssd are created equal

    And sometimes it's the cable

And what does it say on the back of your console you sure its a xbox one x or a series x

If it's a series x (there is no ONE in the series name) then no hdd will be fast enough

XBOX SERIES X IS FREEZING AND SHUTTING DOWN

Just got my series x delivered yesterday and this thing won't stay running for more then 15 minutes. It freezes and shuts off. I've tried everything on Microsoft website to fix it but I think the fan inside the Xbox is not running like it should be and
it's getting too hot. My guess would be that the fan motor should speed up to ventilate the machine properly but it's not speeding up and only staying at one speed so it's overheating. Of course you can't talk to anyone in support for it and they want you
to mail it back to xbox for repair and wait who knows how long for replacement. What a joke. Anyone have any other ideas besides returning it to the store and waiting 6 months to try and get a new one when they are in stock?

    USB adapter+ssd drive+xbox's usb 3.0 port = confirm speeds

but microsoft won't allow xbox series s/x games to run off external no matter what speeds. (they gotta make dollars from proprietary kit)

    USB adapter+ssd drive+xbox's usb 3.0 port = confirm speeds

So going back to the question, I have usb 3.0 to sata 3 adapter with this ssd plugged into an usb 3.0 port of the xbox. Are the games being loaded at that full hard drive speed? Same can be done for the series x as it has usb 3.0 speed which supports
10gbps which should translate to 1280 MBps
    Hi,

When answering this question, I can either go for the long answer - which would be more technical, and take me longer to compose - or I can go with the short answer. For simplicity, I've chosen the short answer.

If you connect a SATA 3 based SSD via an adaptor or compatible drive enclosure to an
Xbox One, you'll get faster speeds, but it won't be the peak read/write speeds the drive can do. The issue isn't the interface or the speed of the drive, it's a console I/O bottleneck. The Xbox One has 8 cores, but each core is clocked quite
low and this has an impact on the console being able to read/decompress data on faster SSD drives.

As for the Series X, I don't know exactly what the speed of the USB ports are. I believe they are USB 3.1 gen 1, not gen 2. Gen 1 is

    5 Gbps.

What I do know is that an SATA SSD connected via USB 3.0 (which interestingly is now called USB 3.1 gen 1) to the Series X/S is considerably faster. I've seen it in tests from a very popular gaming/tech YouTube Channel called
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7y-Fy1Q2O2k&t

Even so. You won't be able to launch Series X/S games via an external SSD. You can only launch these games from either the Internal Nvme SSD or the optional proprietary Xbox expansion card SSD.

Seems my short answer wasn't so 'short' after all lol

Xbox series X|S alternative high speed storage expansion

    Hi,

No, sorry it won't work. The USB ports on the Series X|S are USB 3.1 which have a maximum speed of 500MB/s. This means, no matter what drive you buy, no matter what speed it's rated at, you're stuck at the max speed of the USB port.

The only drives that can be used for Series X|S games are either the internal or the storage expansion card.

I have the Expansion card for my Series X. I also have an external 2TB USB SSD in an enclosure. I can only use the external SSD for Xbox One games. They do load a lot faster than a mechanical hard drive, but I can't play my Series X games off it.
