Xbox Series X External HD Empty folders issue what's going on?

My 5TB external hard drive containing all my films and tv shows, formatted to Exfat, does not fully show up when connected to my Series X.

The first 2TB of media shows and plays fine, yet the rest are just empty folders. Can the series x not handle external hard drives over 2TB?

    :)

    External HD issues series x

Hi and thanks for reaching out. I hope you’re doing well. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I'll be happy to help you.

Kindly try the steps below and see if it helps.

    1. Remove and then reconnect the storage device.

    2. Connect the device to a different USB port on the console.

    3. Power cycle your console:

    - Press the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds.

    - Turn on the console again, and then see if it detects the external drive.

If it still doesn't connect, try the other troubleshooting steps on this link; https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-ne....

I'm using a Series X and the recording is being done in the internal memory which is empty (only OS), all my games are played from external memory (SSD designed by seagate)

Xbox Series X Seagate 2TB SSD connection weak

There isn't enough power on the bus for the card and the external guessing platter HDD

You need to get a powered USB 3.0 hub, that comes with an external power brick
This was the first time I've had issues with it. I set the system up when I had the original Xbox one around 2015 or 2016 and the USB port layout has stayed the same when I switched to the newer Xbox Series X. The only difference was the switch from a USB 2.0 hub to a 3.0 hub

Since the Xbox Series X has more up to date USB ports, I doubt it would be a lack of distributed power

    USB Port Layout:

x1 - USB 3.0 HDD plugged directly into the port on the Series X

x1- USB 3.0 Hub 4-Port (Not independently powered by a power brick)

    1. USB 3.0 SteelSeries Headset receiver
    2. Empty

    4. USB 3.0 Seagate SSD

Transferring games to new Xbox Series X causes it re-download the game

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community.

Hello Vote., unfortunately there is no such thing, when the game requires an update of the size of the game or the full game means that the game kernel needs to be recompiled.

As you're migrating to the X Series what you can do is, download the games you use the most for Xbox and then move them to the External HD and when you play them move back to the inside, and as the SERIES HD is larger, leave the games you use the most on Xbox.

    New series Xbox?

    Hiya!!

I watched the info video of the XBOX Series X breakdown and what's in there and to say this is going to be a beast is an understatement. The only thing that I dont like is that even though you can still use your existing external hard drives with this
console for storing and playing your current XBOX One X games, you wont be able to with the XBOX Series X games. You will have to use their optional 1TB plug in external SSD hard drive to do that. :(

    Happy Gaming!!
