    Xbox Series X Ethernet Issues


    I haven't been on my Xbox Series X in several months now (busy, traveling, etc.). I've kept the machine off as why keep it up and running if I'm not going to be on it for an extended period of time.

    Anyhow, I fired it up today to get things updated and maybe hop into a game. However, the box is now barely connecting to the network. When running speed tests I'm betting 7M down and 36M up. I've used another machine to test the wire and network connectivity and I'm getting 900M/900M through that very wire. I went ahead and tried wifi too but getting the same results despite every other device getting 250/250-ish (or more) over wifi.

    I went ahead and did a complete factory reset as well to see if that might do something and at this point apps (Prime Video, Netflix, etc.) won't even install because things are going so slow. Getting weird readings from the 'bandwidth monitor' during install. It will start off at like 50+M/s then slowly tick down to nothing and then the installs just hang.

    Unfortunately the warranty on this thing expired back in August which is probably about the last time I used the thing.

    Anyone have any suggestions, ideas? Can I use a USB ethernet adapter to bypass the built-in one? Any ideas on how much it costs to fix this since the warranty is done? Feel sort of jipped after spending over $400 on this thing and it lasting just over a year. My original Xbox One v1 is still cranking hard and has better connectivity over wifi in a back bedroom than this series x wired in 10 feet from the main router and modem. Very frustrating.

    Did you manage to fix the connectivity issue? My Series X constantly drops connection to xbox live/internet despite an ethernet cable being used.

    I didn’t initially but i went back and changed it to my home console and that fixed my profile issues i was having first day. I am in the process of rebooting everything and i replaced all the ethernet cables between the series x and the modem. A tv on
    the same ethernet switch as the xbox series x was having connectivity issues too. I’m hoping rebootong that switch fixes it, but that doesnt explain why i can play some games but not others and my streaming aps work.

    I’m having the EXACT same issue on both an Xbox One X and an Xbox Series S.

    Do you have a Windows PC as well? I’m seeing the same issue there on the Xbox app, but downloading on Steam works just fine over Ethernet.

    I have had similar problems with my sons series x dropping internet connection and the only way of curing this was connecting the console directly to the router with an Ethernet Cable. It now works with no issues. I hope this helps.

    And to add my sons Xbox one worked perfectly on our WiFi with no issues but the series x has issues, I’ve no idea why it has these issues but the cable sorted it.

    XBOX Series X Ethernet connection issues

    Recently got a Series X. It is set up with an ethernet cable directly into the router.

    When I switch the xbox on and login to my account the xbox does not connect to the internet. I cannot launch a game.

    I can solve the problem by restarting the xbox though I may need to do this several times before it connects to the internet via the ethernet and allows me to launch a game.

    I have not changed any internet settings since taking the xbox out of the box.

    Any suggestions? Is this a known issue?
    This has been an issue for me since launch. I have 3 series x. All three do it. I have bought new routers, had comcast ship me a new fiber business class modem, bought new cables, etc. I have come to the conclusion that it is a microsoft issue and they are just far to lazy to fix this.
