  1. Xbox Series X - Dolby Vision compatibility issues on LG C1 2021, HDR Mode too, menu freezes...

    Hi all,

    Issue number 1

Right after the release of the new Xbox update that brought/enabled Dolby Vision for Games (DV4G) my LG C1 doesn't like the implementation of it. I can reproduce this by enabling DV for Games and start Wreckfest. I get a yellow filter on the screen and it isn;t going away after playing a match. To make things worse, 9 out of 10 times when I switch DV4G off, my LG goes into Yellow/Normal color fubar mode and this finally results in the OLED giving me the "No valid input" message. It seems it really struggles with the DV to HDR switch back/handshake. At this moment I switched off DV4G because it's a matter of time before the LG goes on black and I need to long press the Xbox button and do the eyes closed brain programmed "two times to the right" and restart the Xbox. Unplug/plug in the HDMI cable soesn't work, the Xbox keeps sending wrong data to the C1.

The implementation of Dolby Vision (for video) doesn't seem effected. Netflix and Prime work well.

    Issue number 2

I also tried to do a live trace (that comes with the troubleshooter) but after changing DV4G off and on again the trace is cancelled. It seems that switching display modes shutdown the trace app because after a long press on the Xbox button the option to stop/sent the live trace data option is gone. I do exactly what the on-screen instructions tell me to do.

    Low level issue number 1

Another thing I randomly see is that switching to HDR mode also give some mode switching problems. They are certainly not as blocking as DV4G for me but still, sometimes I see two or three handshakes before a game is presented on screen. I've got a feeling that the software release bringing DV4G introduces these issues.

    Low level issue number 2

There are also menu freezes right after starting the Xbox, controller is on (because it switched my Xbox on) and there's no interaction with the menu whatsoever. I need to plug out the USB cable (not using batteries) and put it back in to get the input requests handled by the controller. I know there were issues and that a software update resolved this issue but not for me. It happend 4 times now, after the "fix"

    Low level issue number 3

Then the Dolby Atmos app. I've bought this to use it with my headphones. Great app, great simulation but after the Xbox software update my sound is sometimes overmodulated/distorted. For instance with FH5, FH4, Dirt 5 and that sweet Disneyland Adventures game. It's as if the bass gets maxed out and the "OG Trap Bass Distortion" filter kicks in, Bam! distortion in your face, really trippin'on these beats, especially when Bass Arena is on ofc. Doesn't matter if I use my wired HD650, DT770 Pro or the wireless Steelseries Arctis 9X. I need to switch between the Windows Sonic.DTS and Dolby Atmos to get it sorted.

My final thoughts and the final question to others

All these problems were introduced after the update some weeks ago, I'm pretty sure. I gave feedback on the Xbox, lots of feedback with a good set of information, but I still experience the above issues. Am I the only one experiencing this or are there other gamers out there with the LG C1 that also experience these issues? I know that PC/HDR mode á la Vincent is the best way to go and he's right but still, If something is implemented it should be done right, right? Xbox Series X - Dolby Vision compatibility issues on LG C1 2021, HDR Mode too, menu freezes... :)

    Best regards

    :)

Xbox series X and LG C2 problems.

No, unfortunately, one cannot speak of clarity in this case, because I have experienced the exact opposite case.

I own the LG C1 and the LG C2, and the handshake problems have NEVER occurred in over a year of use on the C1! Instead, however, they keep coming back with the C2 on the same Xbox Series X console. When switching this console back to the C1, the same picture again, NEVER! LG C1 and LG C2 both support Dolby Vision (for gaming). Before testing the LG C2 with one / my Series X, I had never heard of the handshake issue with Dolby Vision. Besides, the LG C2 works very well, but the Dolby Vision handshake in games can hardly be tested on other devices, because the PS5 does not support this feature and other devices are at least unknown to me.

Xbox series X and LG C2 problems.

I've never had an issue with

my Onkyo receiver it's actually fixed my issue with my series x and lg c1 issue and my Onkyo receiver came out in 2017 and it supports 4k hdr and Dolby vision. All work perfect. The issue is a Xbox issue as my 360 and my ps3 and my series s never had an issue directly to the tv it's only with the series x and it's strange that you blame the tv when all other devices work but the series x.

Xbox Series X - Screen Glitch/Distortion only during Game loading/static screens (not on any other app)

I just had this same issue on my LG G3 TV. I went in and turned off Dolby Vision on the XBOX Series X and that fixed the issue. HDR works fine. This seems like a issue with a recent update.
