Xbox Series X Display Error

Hi,

I had a weird issue with my console that I haven’t seen before.

I went to turn on my console with the controller, but the Xbox wouldn’t power on. What was weird was that the light on the controller stopped blinking, so it had paired with something.

I pressed the power button on the console and, while it did turn on, I couldn’t get a picture on my TV. I also noticed that the external storage I have connected to the console wasn’t powering on.

I performed a power cycle reset by holding down the power button for ten seconds. This seemed to fix the issue, but now I’m really concerned there is an underlying problem with my machine. The only reassurance I had was that, when it did power on, there was a system update to apply, so maybe I was trying to turn it on while it was updating.

I’ve had the console for four months now and have had zero problems, so I found this a little disconcerting. Has anyone seen something like this before?

Thank you. I get the following error code when trying to display the colours on the Series X if it helps. For the gamer pics and themes, there are no error codes.

If your Xbox console won't turn on, your power supply may be faulty or improperly connected, or there may be another reason.

Here are some solutions for the issue:

Solution 1: Reset your internal power supply:

If your console won't turn on, it may simply need a power reset. Often, power issues are due to the power supply resetting after a power surge.

To reset the internal power supply, follow these steps:

Unplug the mains lead from the console.
Wait 10 seconds.
Plug the cord back into the console, and then press the Xbox button on the front of the console.

If the console turns on, the internal power reset worked. Do this step if the problem happens again.

Solution 2: If the console still won't turn, Try the following:

Check that the wall outlet you’re using is working with other devices.
Check that the power cable is firmly connected to the wall outlet and to your console.
Ensure that you're using the power cable that came with your console, and that it's the correct cable for your region.
If your console still will not turn on, it needs to be serviced. To request service, sign in to Device Services with your Microsoft account and submit a service order:

Device Services.

Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox was only optimised for Xbox One X it hasn't been optimised for the Series S or X hardware. On the Series S it runs in Xbox One Backwards compatibility mode. As such, it runs at around 900P (around 1600x900). This means it will look quite soft looking on a 4K display, although it should not affect the colours or the contrast.

Unfortunately, RDR2 is not great on the Series S, especially on a 4K display. FIFA 23 is Series S|X optimised, which is why this game looks a lot better.

The Series X supports 1080P resolution in the settings same as Xbox One and One X. Games on Series X will still render in 4K, but will downscale to whatever display you have. There won't be any loss in quality at all.

X enhanced games are just for the one X not the S

As for 120hz though they can display it games are still max 60fps. The series x which is the next gen xbox will be able to do 120fps games
