    Xbox Series X Crashing Still When Playing Black Ops: Cold War


    My Xbox Series X is freezing up when playing Black Ops: Cold War still, even after the latest update.

    I have verified I have Ray Tracing turned off and that I am using the correct X/S version of the game.

    My wife plays on our Xbox One S and isn't having any issues but about 50% of the time the match freezes on the map loading screen or halfway through the round.

    It is making it very difficult to play the game and my frustration with the "next gen" console is growing by the minute.

    What other troubleshooting can I do to get this issue resolved? The forums and everywhere I have looked only mentions the two troubleshooting steps I have already verified (Ray Tracing and X/S), I need the next steps.

    Hi!

    Maybe you have the Xbox One version of COD Cold War and you see that message because the Xbox One version cannot be upgraded to Xbox Series X. You can find more informations about COD Cold War editions here:

    Call of Duty Black ops Upgrade to X/S

    From what I can tell, to access the Series X version of the game, you need the Cross-Gen bundle...once you buy that, you should then be able to download and install the Series X version. Without the cross-gen bundle it will, presumably, just install the XB1 version

    From the Store page:

    "For digital owners of the Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War Standard Edition, this upgrade will unlock the Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War Cross-Gen Bundle, giving access to the Xbox Series X|S version of the game. After upgrade purchase, search in the Xbox store for the Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War - Cross-Gen Bundle to install the Xbox Series X|S version of the game."
