Xbox Series X Controller Type C to Windows 11 Issues

    Hi,

Having an issue with wired type C connectivity between my Windows 11 laptop and my Xbox series X controller.

I'd like to preface this by saying that I've been using my controller with my laptop via a type C for weeks now with no issues. I recently bought an off-brand Xbox wireless adapter from Cipon. Product can be seen here for reference: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08CY14...abc_6MNNYYZA5QWEK1WW8B66?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I've also managed to use this successfully in the past too.

I was getting ready to play a game and my controller was working fine via a type C USB. I noticed my phone was on low battery so I decided to grab the aforementioned Xbox wireless adapter, disconnected my controller from type C so I could charge my phone instead. However, my controller wasn't connecting to this adapter.

I messed around quite a bit with the 'connect' button on the controller and the 'connect' button on the adapter to try and connect them up, but no luck. I'm worried this may have caused an issue with the connectivity of the controller.

Since this point, I am no longer able to use my controller on my laptop via a type C cable. I have tried multiple cables, all of which have worked in the past. The controller still connects to my Xbox One S, both wirelessly and via a cable. It also still connects to my laptop via Bluetooth, but this isn't good enough as you can't use the audio jack this way.

It's worth noting that Windows Device Manager shows the following when the controller is connected and powered on but NOT connected via bluetooth:

    'Xbox Peripherals -> Xbox Controller'

HOWEVER, the controller is unresponsive in this state, the power light is flashing to show that it isn't connected, and Xbox Accessories app doesn't detect it. This listing in Device Manager disappears when I unplug the controller from its type C connection.

It seems I have somehow caused the connection to malfunction or something. Does anyone know how this can be fixed? I'm hoping it's something as simple as uninstalling/refreshing a bunch of drivers, but I just can't figure it out.

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

    Xbox Series X type-c port?

On the video, Xbox Series X has USB type A only.

The new controller, I think is type-A (Xbox Series X) to type-c (controller). (Elite2 is a to c usb)

Xbox Series X Controller Type C to Windows 11 Issues

Alrighty, let's see what we can figure out together.

Please make sure you are connected to the internet when you try the following, as the drivers will be pulled again from online if they're not already available offline on the device.

We're going to try resetting the drivers. First, uninstall the controller from Device Manager:

    1. Head into Device Manager with the controller plugged in
    2. Find the listing for the Xbox Peripherals > Xbox One Controller
    3. Right-click on it and select Uninstall device
      • When you do this, the controller should respond by just turning off
    4. Unplug your controller
Then, make sure it's also gone from your Bluetooth list, for good measure:

    1. Open the Settings app
    2. Search for Bluetooth settings
    3. In the list of Bluetooth devices, locate the Xbox Wireless Controller
    4. Select Remove device
    5. Unplug your Xbox controller now if you haven't already
Now, we're trying to trigger the reinstallation of the drivers through Windows itself. It's a great idea to restart your computer at this point, again for good measure, and then:

    1. Without turning your controller back on, plug it back into the PC
If everything goes well, the following should happen very quickly (pretty much in a few blinks or less):

    1. Windows should identify and call for the correct driver either from onboard the device itself or online
    2. It should be reinstalled and show back up in Device Manager as before
    3. The controller's Nexus button should light up and remain solid, indicating a successful connection
If all of that goes well, then you're free to reconnect it via just the bluetooth directly if you like, and we strongly recommend steering clear of third-party wireless adapters, as those have not been cleared for compatibility with Xbox wireless controllers.

If that does not go well, I'll be waiting for your response so we can continue working on this together.
